The Final Chapter

“As the undead scourge conquers the last line of defense in Verdansk, four surviving Armistice operatives must make their last stand within Site Alpha Romeo during the city's final hour.”
―Mission Briefing

Aeternus (Latin for Eternal) is a bonus map featured in The Final Chapter saga of the Roach Chronicles, created by RoachTheIntelCollector. It is an additional Zombies survival experience alongside Chain of Memories, although this map doesn't connect to the main story of The Final Chapter.

Setting[]

Aeternus is set within a secret underground facility codenamed Site Alpha Romeo amidst the Destruction of Verdansk, an event in which a massive undead scourge has ravaged the city of Verdansk, forcing the military to nuke the entire city to end the threat. Players assume control of a group of four former Armistice operators that stumbled upon the facility in the final hours before the nuclear detonation in a vain attempt to hide from the undead.

Layout[]

Maintenance Corridor[]

Players will spawn in the maintenance corridor below an inaccessible hole in the roof leading to the surface. Directly left of the spawn point are two 750 point doors leading to security; both will open if one is purchased. Both the 725 and MK2 Carbine are in this corridor for 500 points, as well as Quick Revive.

Security[]

A medium-sized security station placed just before the entrance to the silo wing rooms. Two data shelves are within this room in terms of set pieces, as well as a central monitor displaying an alert for the zombie outbreak on the surface. On the northern wall of the station is Speed Cola, while a Mystery Box location is in the hallway outside the station and adjacent to the 1000 point door leading to the silo hallway. The .357 can also be found inside the station for 750 points.

Checkpoint[]

A small checkpoint connecting the maintenance corridor to the access corridor. While possible to access the checkpoint from the maintenance corridor, it is not possible to reach it from the access corridor until the power has been turned on, as a powered door separates the two rooms. Both Double Tap II Root Beer and the VLK Rogue can be found here, the latter costing 750 points.

Silo Hallway[]

A U-shaped hallway that wraps around the northwest section of the silo. Within this hallway is a small observation deck slash control room that peers into the silo, where the players can pull a special switch to open both doors leading into the silo once the power has been turned on. Juggernog can be found in this hallway, with the AUG being placed to the left of the 1250 point door leading into the access corridor.

Silo[]

The silo is a small circular room with a grated floor containing the upper portion of a nuclear warhead. Directly above the silo hatch is the Zozsni Spomenik memorial, sealing the silo shut and preventing the nuke from being unleashed. The FiNN LMG can be found on the wall here for 1800 points.

Access Corridor[]

A large open corridor that serves as a center point for the whole facility, linking the silo wing and checkpoint to the reactor and war room wing. The corridor is littered with various crates, with two large metal stairs at both ends of the corridor leading up to the war room and reactor. The initial Mystery Box location is found here, as well as Stamin-Up and an Ammo Cache, allowing players to purchase ammo for any weapon for a cost of 1500 points, with upgraded weapon ammo costing 3000 points while wonder weapons cost 5000 points and 10000 points if upgraded. The MP5 for 1000 points and the SKS for 1200 points can be found at the top of either staircase, both next to a 1500 point door to the reactor; like the maintenance corridor, opening one door will also open the other.

Reactor[]

The two stairs from the access corridor funnel into the reactor, which will give power to the facility upon activating the map's power switch, powering the perk machines and opening the powered door in the checkpoint to allow fast travel back to the maintenance corridor. An additional part of the reactor room is a lone hallway splicing the war room into two separate rooms, allowing additional access into the war room; at the end of the hallway is the Pack-a-Punch Machine. Furthermore, Mule Kick can be found in the corner adjacent to the power switch.

War Room[]

A U-shaped room divided in two by the hallway containing the Pack-a-Punch Machine. This room contains two conference tables and various monitors on the walls. Both Deadshot Daiquiri and PhD Slider are found in both outer corners of the spliced room, with the RAM-7 being found in the PhD Slider section costing 1500 points while a Mystery Box location is situated in the Deadshot Daiquiri section.

Research Lab[]

A small hidden research lab in the walls near the reactor; turning on power is the only way to open the door leading into this room. Within this room is Death Perception and the Bowie Knife, the latter costing 3000 points.

Perks[]

Aeternus re-introduces the classic Perk-a-Colas from Treyarch's canon experience. The perks use a modified Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War system, wherein they are already decked-out with most of their upgrades unlockable in the game. In addition to this, all of the perks retain their original costs from their debut appearances, and there is no perk limit, allowing the player to have all nine perks simultaneously; Double Tap II Root Beer, a perk absent in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, is amongst the perks featured in the map.

Easter Egg Song[]

  • In the Face of Evil by Magic Sword can be activated by interacting with three teddy bears hidden in the map at these locations:
    • Under the desk at the Checkpoint.
    • Stuck beneath the grated floor in the Silo.
    • In an open safe in the Research Lab.

Trivia[]

  • This version of Site Alpha Romeo's layout is a nigh-exact recreation of one of the nuclear bases unearthed in Call of Duty: Warzone prior to the launch of Verdansk '84, specifically the one beneath the Zozsni Spomenik memorial southwest of Novi Grazna Hills.
  • Due to the location of the facility's entrance in Warzone, the minimap created for the map was intentionally drawn upside-down, meaning the northern-most part of the map is actually the maintenance corridor.
  • The author has described the map as being the Roach Chronicles' own Kino der Toten.
