What do you mean you don’t know, they’re your characters! Charlotte steamrolled the whole damn questline! An arty!
— Christopher Nooring

Artificial Humans are people who were born from a machine. The technology is highly advanced and capable of creating a human to almost exact specifications, and even out of organic material. The only thing separating them from normal humans is that they weren't born from a womb.

The technology to create them was designed with the goal of letting couples who couldn't normally have a child be parents, easily. Keats Industries bought out the technology, patented it, and uses it to create NPCs for Freedom. Guests to Freedom are told that the NPCs are not real people and they can do whatever they want to do without consequence.

The technology over time has evolved to allow creation of animals, and then creatures of any age. Michael Navarro's (and others) job is to write out characters as you would for any storyline, and then have the characters created to his exact specifications and the pre-written memories implanted in them to allow for easy creation of questlines, written primarily by Christopher Nooring. Recently the technology has evolved to the point where they can create completely new creatures, often by modifying existing ones. This is how the monsters of the Vampire Apocalypse storyline were created, and the big debut of this new feature would be that questline, just in time for October.
