The Ballistic Knife is a Russian special weapon featured in all canon maps in Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Canon[]
The Ballistic Knife is obtainable via the Mystery Box and Console Commands. It possesses relatively low power, a low rate of fire, decent accuracy, and a low ammo count. This weapon is often looked down upon players because of this and is usually traded for another weapon. However, the Ballistic Knife is a one hit kill for zombies if it hits them in the head, but this chance is very slim, depending on the players' shooting ability. If this weapon is kept, it is usually kept for Pack-a-Punching.
Buying a Bowie Knife or Sickle will replace the player's regular knife, making their melee have somewhat a lot more power until level 13.
Pack-a-Punched Variant[]
The Pack-a-Punched Ballistic Knife becomes the "Krauss Refibrillator," obtaining more ammo, the ability to revive downed teammates, and slightly more power. Because not much more ammo is given, it should be used exclusively to revive downed teammates. Also, Mule Kick should be bought in case if the player's other weapon runs out of ammo, as the Krauss Refibrillator is virually useless past round 20.
