- “Everything you'll see...everything you'll do...and everything you'll say...is the result of an alternate thought...”
- ―Call of Duty: Age of Extinction Official Trailer
Call of Duty: Age of Extinction is an FPS action video game developed by Nakamura Interactive, Tachibana Games and Frost Games, and published by Morningwood Arts for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the Steam client. Age of Extinction is the first game in Morningwood Arts' Call of Duty series to run on Semblance 6.0, which is an improved version of Semblance 5.0. A Nintendo Switch port of the game was developed jointly by Tachibana Games and Nintendo; the latter also publishing the game alongside Morningwood Arts. Eclipse Universe creator Jesse Loon wrote a novel called Rose Squad: Second Korman Conflict which adapts the maps featuring Rose Squad.
The game is a sequel to 2022's Call of Duty: Extinction, and is the second game in the spin-off Rose Squad Trilogy of the Eclipse Warfare series, and is the sixth game overall in the series. Like the previous game, Age of Extinction will not feature a traditional campaign, but instead will be treated as live-service titled as "The Second Korman Conflict" which will keep the game alive with new content after release, meaning all post-launch content will be free for all players, excluding Black Armoury content. Call of Duty: Extinction - Definitive Edition was also included as part of the Complete Edition which included all three Expansions and Eclipse Warfare II Legacy at no extra cost.
Unlike the last game, Age of Extinction is set within an alternate timeline and will only include a single storyline and not add anymore post-launch, angering some fans who grew attached to the 180th Alpha Group. Instead of "Episodes", maps, titled as "Missions", will feature either Rose Squad or Arc Squad as the main cast of characters, however Nakamura Interactive confirmed that the majority of Missions will feature Rose Squad.
Two weeks before the game's release, Nakamura Interactive released Age of Extinction: The Prelude which serves as the introduction of the game's setting within the alternate timeline.
When asked about the involvement of Frost Games, design director Anakin Nakamura said that Frost Games provided assistance during development of the game that included the "Characters and the Cards" system as well as the creation of "Extinction" difficulty and "Loadout" system. In an interview with IGN, Anakin Nakamura revealed that Frost Games was also working on a big post-launch addition to the game. Many players, YouTubers, and several video game media websites speculated upon the addition of Multiplayer and Special Ops, which Frost Games is known for.
Two years later, a sequel titled Call of Duty: Retribution was released and finished the story developer Nakamura Interactive wanted to tell about Rose Squad and their conflict with the Korma Empire as well as the story of Mr. Tachibana, who first appeared in 2019's Call of Duty: Awakening of the Hive, another game Nakamura Interactive developed.
Gameplay[]
Nakamura Interactive has made numerous improvements and additions to the gameplay for Age of Extinction; one of the biggest additions players will notice first is the addition of two Classes alongside the current four as well as Class Prestiging. Other improvements include the "Cash" system, the way Team Support, Strike Package and Equalizers are handled, and the addition of Class Abilities with each Class having one. The Grimm, Korman and difficulty have seen improvements and additions as well.
Credits[]
The money system in Age of Extinction has been improved. Instead of earning Money from kills, players will earn Credits which they can use to call in Abilities. Each type of Grimm will reward a different amount of Credits. The max amount of Credits a player can hold is limited to 15,000 (8000 with the Smaller Wallet Relic, 20,000 with Engineer Level 3).
When neutralizing a "High-Value" Grimm in a game, players will be rewarded with a certain amount of Credits depending on the "Tier" of that High-Value Grimm. Getting past areas of a map rewards players with Credits as well; ranging from 2000 to as much as 12,000.
Amount of Credits awarded to players for each type of Grimm killed:
- Warrior — 100 Credits/50 Credits (With Smaller Wallet equipped)
- Gladiator — 200 Credits/100 Credits (With Smaller Wallet equipped)
- Scorpion — 150 Credits/75 Credits (With Smaller Wallet equipped)
- Aggressor — 500 Credits/250 Credits (With Smaller Wallet equipped)

- Guardian — 600 Credits/300 Credits (With Smaller Wallet equipped)
Amount of Credits rewarded to players for each Tier of High-Value Grimm killed:
- Elite — 1000 Credits/500 Credits (With Smaller Wallet equipped)
- Major — 1500 Credits/750 Credits (With Smaller Wallet equipped)
- Ultra — 2500 Credits/1250 Credits (With Smaller Wallet equipped)
Ranking[]
The Ranking system returns in Age of Extinction. There is a total of 45 Ranks and 15 Prestige levels players can obtain by simply playing the game. Each time players reach a new Rank until 44 will be given a Weapon Key which they can use to unlock a weapon of their choice, and they'll also be rewarded with 200 Armoury Credits as well. Reaching a certain Rank gives players a Rarity Token which they can use to unlock an item in the Armoury.
Once reaching Rank 44, players will need to earn 200,000 XP in order to get to Rank 45 at which they will then be allowed to Prestige and start over. Once Prestiging and reaching Ranks 10, 20, 30, 40, 45, players will not be given any Rarity Tokens as they are only one-time offerings. Each Prestige also rewards 400 Armoury Credits.

Added in the Extinction's Revelry event, the ten additional Prestige ranks will influence the Verdant Forest's enemies and difficulty.
Classes[]
In Age of Extinction, the Class system has expanded from the original Extinction mode. There are now six Classes available for players to choose from: Weapon Specialist, Heavy Trooper, Field Engineer, Combat Medic, Vanguard, and Ranger, and players can only choose one. These six Classes differ from each other in terms of role and Class Abilities. In Age of Extinction, these Classes can be upgraded up to Level 5 and can enter Prestige mode.
- Weapon Specialists excel in weapon handling, aiming down sight speed, weapon swapping and providing allies with ammo.
- Heavy Troopers excel in health, armour, melee damage, heavy ordnance Abilities, and providing Armour for allies.
- Field Engineers excel in protecting Abilities and repairing them, being able to hold more Credits, and repair Drills faster on maps that include it.
- Combat Medics excel in keeping their teammates alive which includes faster revive times, enhanced health regeneration for both themselves and teammates, enhanced movement speeds, and ignore on-going damage from Scorpion gas clouds.
- Vanguards excel in providing allies with portable shielding generators, taking down shields of Korman Soldiers as well as dealing with Korman Behemoth Specialists when using their experimental signature Sniper Rifles.
- Rangers excel in dealing heavy damage to Barrier Colonies, Grimm Guardians and Aggressors, and using belt-feeders to fire plasma with their weapons from their Plasma Batteries.
Each of these Classes have their own unique Ability. A second Class Ability and name of a Class will change once reaching Class Prestige 5.
Unlike the original Extinction mode where having a fully upgraded Class did not carry over matches, Age of Extinction allows that. How players level up their Class is getting kills on Grimm and using Abilities with that Class.

Once reaching Class Prestige 5 on all Classes, players' Classes will enter "Class Prestige Master" and will earn a Title called "TITAN General"[note 1] which will increase Rank XP gains by 10%. As a Ranger Commander, Plasma Kit has a decreased cooldown timer and gives an extra 25% Plasma Kit battery when picked up by allies.
Abilities[]
In Age of Extinction, Abilities are equipment and ordnance available to players by spending Credits to use in-game. The Team Support, Strike Package and Equalizer have been moved into the Abilities. Twelve of these Abilities are Class-specific and some Abilities can be repaired and armoured only by a player with the Field Engineer Class. Unlike Classes and the original Extinction mode, Abilities cannot be upgraded to increase effectiveness. Players will also no longer be able to choose their Ammo type or be able to purchase Ammo unless a Weapon Specialist turns down an Ammo Kit or a Ranger turns down a Plasma Kit.
Players are able to have one Ability equipped per slot, meaning you can only choose one Ability from Team Support, Strike Package and Equalizer; much like the original Extinction mode. Added in with Strike: Washington, E.E., players will now be able to request ammo via the "Ammunition Crate" Team Support Ability, which was to address fan concerns that only the Weapon Specialist and Ranger Classes could only drop ammo.

Armour Plates do not take 100% of damage inflicted, but rather only takes 75% of damage inflicted onto an Ability which takes the remaining 25%. The Portable Shields do not replace the Armour picked up from Heavy Trooper Armour Kits but rather stacks with them, giving players more damage resistance. The Vanguard's "X4s SAAMR" have 4 Shots with Vanguard Levels 1 and 5 giving an additional 2 Shots each; with a maximum of 8 Shots.

Field Engineers can only apply a maximum of 5 Armour Plates at a time and cooldown time is decreased by five seconds with Field Engineer Prestige 2. Advanced Medic duration is only 8 seconds. If Vanguard is at Level 4, the cooldown is decreased to 90 seconds. The X4s SAAMR can be holstered, however the cooldown state of this Class Ability won't start unless all rounds are fired.
On console, all Abilities and the Class Ability are bound to the D-Pads. On PC, the Abilities and Class Ability are bound to the Numpad, but can be freely reconfigured to a different set of keys. When playing with a Class with two Class Abilities, pressing D-Pad Down will activate the first Class Ability while holding D-Pad Down will activate the second Class Ability.
Weapons[]
In Age of Extinction, Nakamura Interactive included most of the weapons seen in the first Rose Squad game while also adding returning weapons as well since most of the added ones were around the time the Human-Alien Conflict had started.
However with the "Loadout" system, all weapons are locked and need to be unlocked in order to be used. Weapons tagged with "- Default" are unlocked by default. All attachments are also locked and the only way to unlock them is to find them in-game when searching "Search Piles" or "Weapons Cases" scattered around the map.
Once entering Prestige, all weapons, except Default weapons, will be re-locked and players will receive Weapon Keys as they increase their Rank.

Relics[]
Relics in Age of Extinction remain unchanged. Players will unlock Relics as they "prestige" from leveling up their Rank. Like the original Extinction mode, players are not limited to equipping one Relic at a time.
Relics include:
- Take More Damage - Players take more damage when injured. (Approximately 25% increased damage)
- Pistols Only - Primaries, Secondaries and Specialized Weapon Variants are not allowed.
- Smaller Wallet - Earn and carry less Credits. (8000 maximum Credits and less Credits earned)
- Mortal - No Class selection available. Disables Class Abilities.
- Do Less Damage - Inflict less damage against the Grimm. (Approximately 33% less damage dealt to all Grimm)
- Fragile - Slow health regeneration, no regeneration while sprinting, and fall damage is enabled.
- Stand Your Ground - Move slower. No reloading while sprinting.
- Handicapped - No Abilities available.
- Limited Ammo - Ammo refills will give you less ammo.
- Earn Your Keep - No scavenging or pickups from deployed cases.
Loadout[]
In Age of Extinction, the Create-A-Class system from the first game is scrapped in favour of a "loadout" system. The "Class" slot is where players will be able to choose their preferred Class. In the "Primary" and "Secondary" slots, players can equip any Assault Rifle, Submachine Gun, Light Machine Gun, Shotgun and Sniper Rifle. The "Specialized Weapon Variant" slot allows any SWV the player wants can be equipped into this slot without sacrificing regular weapons. The "Pistol" can be filled with any pistol the player wishes. In the "Relics" slot, players can equip as many Relics as they wish, however in order to unlock Relics, players will need to Prestige.
With this Loadout system, there will be no weapons placed on the maps for players to purchase.
- Class
- Primary
- Secondary - Unlocks after Rank 10
- Specialized Weapon Variant
- Pistol
- Abilities
- D-pad Right - Team Support
- D-pad Up - Strike Package
- D-pad Left - Equalizer
- D-pad Down - Class Ability
- Relics - Unlocks after Prestiging once
- Titles - Unlocks at Prestige 11 or at Class Prestige Master
Grimm[]
In Age of Extinction, the Grimm remain unchanged, however the "High-Value" Grimm first seen in the Grimm of Chaos mode are now encountered in Episodes and Grimm Survival. In Episodes, a High Value Grimm is one of three Tiers which are Elite: more strong Grimm able to take more damage than regular Grimm, Major: a lot more stronger than Elite Tier and are more aggressive to players and is able to flank and strategically snare players, and Ultra: powerful Grimm that are superior to their more common brethren and are almost as intelligent as a Predecessor. However, their attack damage to players aren't affected unless playing on Hardcore or Extinction difficulty which both increase their damage to players.
In Grimm of Chaos and Grimm Survival, only Elite and Major High-Value Tier Grimm appear at a time. However, allowing a "High-Value" Grimm escape in Episodes does not result in a mission failure, but rather locks everyone's Abilities for two minutes.
Kormans[]
In Age of Extinction, the Korman Specialists have been expanded upon. Instead of just being objective-only obstacles, Korman Specialists periodically appear in-game and actively attack players, and their Abilities. Korman Specialists have three different Roles which are meant to counter Abilities and Class Abilities.
Anti-Armour: Specialists trained to specifically combat the Class Abilities of the Heavy Trooper, Field Engineer and Vanguard, these Specialists will actively attempt to destroy Armour Plates applied to other Abilities and are also armed with weapons that deal increase damage against players with Armour picked up from Heavy Trooper Armour Kits as well as Vanguard Portable Shields.
Anti-Ordnance: Specialists trained to target mainly I.M.S., Sentry Guns, Vultures, Attack Gunships, Grenade Turrets and the Crowd Control Ability; these Specialists are armed with weapons that are tailored to specifically deal increased damage to these Abilities. However, they will also occasionally attack and damage Armour Plates, but won't deal as much damage as Anti-Armour Specialists do.
Behemoth: Specifically trained to take more beating than other Grimm and Specialists, the Behemoth Specialists are armed with the heaviest weapons that Korman weaponsmiths have created and developed after hearing about the advancements of their newfound enemies: the Eclipse Military. These Specialists will mainly target players who pose a larger threat which is determined by the amount of placements made with Abilities and how well they play in the current match.
Korman Soldiers also appear periodically alongside Specialists, but do not have different Roles. Nakamura Interactive confirmed that the Korman Soldiers will be expanded upon in the Second Galactic War update that'll be released during the Season of the Second War.
Difficulty[]
The difficulty system in Age of Extinction has also been improved. In the menus, players will be able to choose between Casual, Regular, Hardcore and Extinction. However, Grimm of Chaos and Grimm Survival maps are locked to a difficulty which depends on their location and has been confirmed by design director Anakin Nakamura that the closer they are to the Korma System, the harder they'll be, and if in the Korma System; those maps will be in Extinction difficulty.
Casual: The difficulty level for players who just want to experience the map and its story where 50% less Grimm appear and have 50% reduced health and attacks; Warriors take a single melee to be killed while Aggressors only take one LMG magazine to take down; damage to a drill by Grimm has also been reduced by 50% and Grimm are also not as aggressive as in Regular mode, and no High-Value Grimm appear. Players will also receive 50% less XP from all sources as well.
Regular: Regular mode is essentially how Extinction was originally played before the addition of Difficulty in the original mode from Ghosts.
Hardcore: The crosshairs on the player's HUD is removed; Grimm are more aggressive, have double the health and will occasionally snare players with their attacks; ricochet friendly fire is also turned on. Substantially more Grimm spawn much earlier on by 30%. Players tend to be faced with Gladiators on the very first Grimm Colony. Players also take 40% more damage from all Grimm. XP earned by players from all sources is increased by 40% in Hardcore. High-Value Grimm will deal an extra 20% damage to players.
In Hardcore, the health of High-Value Grimm are also increased. Elite Tier Grimm have 4000 health, Major Tier Grimm have 8000 health, and Ultra Tier Grimm have 12000 health.
Extinction: The true experience of fighting against extraterrestrial beings: Extinction difficulty is a lot more harder than Hardcore; noticeable differences include: removed crosshairs, ricochet friendly fire is turned on and both players will be damaged, Grimm A.I. are more intelligent and 50% more spawn, Gladiators and Stalkers will be encountered at first Grimm Colony, all Grimm deal 60% more damage to players and have triple the amount of health they normally do including High-Value Tier Grimm, all High-Value Grimm will deal an extra 40% damage to players which allows them to one-hit players, unless wearing Heavy Trooper Armour Kits and/or Vanguard Portable Shields. In addition, XP gains from all sources is increased by 60%.
In Extinction, the health of High-Value Grimm are also increased. Elite Tier Grimm have 6000 health, Major Tier Grimm have 10000 health, and Ultra Tier Grimm have 14000 health.
Nightmare: the ultimate Age of Extinction experience. The HUD is completely absent; only completed Challenges notifications will pop up. Friendly-fire is enabled; both players will be harmed. Grimm and Cryptid A.I. are significantly more intelligent and will outwit players, becoming more unpredictable. 80% more Grimm and Cryptids will spawn. Players will encounter more stronger Grimm and Cryptids early on. Grimm deal 80% damage to players, essentially allowing them to two-hit players; High-Value Tier Grimm and Cryptids will deal an additional 60%, allowing them to one-hit players. High-Value Tier Grimm and Cryptids are encountered more frequently. All Grimm and Cryptids have quadruple the amount of health than Extinction difficulty, this includes High-Value Tier Grimm and Cryptids.
This difficulty is exclusively available in the new Verdant Forest activity, and cannot be chosen on Missions.
Characters[]
With the Skins including voice lines and being renamed to "Characters", Nakamura Interactive introduced a new way of unlocking these Characters. In order to unlock new Characters, players will need to collect "Character Cards".
Each Character in a single rarity require the same amount of Cards to unlock.
- Uncommon (25 Character Cards)
- Rare (50 Character Cards)
- Epic (100 Character Cards)
- Legendary (175 Character Cards)
- Ancient (350 Character Cards)
Character Cards come in two types: Universal and Character-specific. "Universal Character Cards" are used to unlock any Character of a matching rarity; Universal Character Cards come in all rarities except Ancient. The other type are "Character-specific Cards" which only come in Ancient rarity.
When it comes to earning Character Cards, players will be able to collect Universal Character Cards through normal gameplay such as increasing their Rank, completing a match, and doing Challenges. Increasing your Rank guarantees 10 Universal Character Cards that range between all rarities; completing a match provides a 9% chance of receiving 5 or 10 Epic Universal Character Cards; completing specific Challenges will reward a specific Rarity of 5 to 10 Character Cards. As for Ancient Character Cards, these can only be earned from Character-specific challenges.

With the release of the A Joker's Debt expansion, Campaign Mode has been reintroduced into Call of Duty: Age of Extinction, though it remains largely unchanged from previous installments.
The A Joker's Debt storyline focuses on the Jokers Mr. Tachibana and The Drifter, and their debts to various criminals within the Eclipse Universe and Mrs. Nakamura, who is like Mr. Tachibana and has influence over several timelines and universes.
A Lover's Wrath[]

Confirmed during January 2028, design director Anakin Nakamura revealed the next big expansion for Call of Duty: Age of Extinction was called A Lover's Wrath. Much like A Joker's Debt, it will introduce a new storyline and takes place after the events of A Joker's Debt.
Anakin Nakamura revealed its release date to be March 10th, 2028. He later commented that Nakamura Interactive will reveal more details in February 2028.
Extinction[]
In a "rip" Rose Squad timeline, Rose Squad fails to plant the beacon at Ball's Pyramid, resulting in them being captured by Grimm forces within. The last Grimm Predecessor also succeeds in awakening the ancient species; combining the knowledge and power of the Grimm Predecessor and the Cryptid Ancestor, both species are able to overrun Eclipse Planetary Guard forces across Earth and eventually the Eclipse Empire loses its main seat of power and the majority of its leaders. With the loss of Earth and the Presidency Council, Eclipse High Council and the Galactic Council of Alliances, the Eclipse High Command are now the leaders of the Eclipse Empire Military forces across the galaxy.
Rose Squad returns as the main cast of characters and introducing a new cast of characters called Arc Squad, another fireteam of Titan-SSs who were enrolled into the TITAN-X Program in 2057 by Special Operations Command. Arc Squad consists of Commander Jaune Arc, Sergeant Pyrrha Nikos and Privates Nora Valkyrie and Lie Ren.
Unlike the first game where players were assigned to a character by random, players will now be able to choose which character they want to play as. The way this works is that players will be able to choose in-game where a UI menu will come up and allow players to pick a character, however once a player chooses a character, that character will become locked and no other player can play as them. This prevents seeing two of the same character in-game.

Downloadable Content[]
The Second Korman Conflict[]
The Second Korman Conflict is a post-launch content system which will see the release of updates over the course of the game's life-span, and will be free for all players with no Expansion Pass or Season Pass. Nakamura Interactive promised with the live-service, they would be delivering new content which includes Missions, Grimm of Chaos and Grimm Survival content, Specialized Weapon Variants and cosmetics such as Outfits for Rose Squad, Arc Squad, Universal Outfits and Characters. Alongside the post-launch updates, the content of these updates will be delivered as part of Seasons which will last a full month.
Tachibana Games was originally tasked with overseeing development of Grimm of Chaos and Grimm Survival content, however with Nakamura Interactive creating and not being able to continue focus on Black Armoury, Tachibana Games was moved to overseeing this subscription service.
Black Armoury[]
- Main article: Black Armoury
Black Armoury is a subscription service exclusively available with the Black Armoury, Deluxe, and Grimm Slayer Editions of the game, and will mainly be overseen by Tachibana Games and not Nakamura Interactive, who will be focusing more on the game itself. No statement from Tachibana Games about it being separately available is given nor it is commented on.
Black Armoury introduces two new Characters as well as the Black Forges where it is revealed that Mr. Tachibana used these as he forged and created the weapons he sells. Included with the DLC, this new PvE activity will be immediately available to players and will be able to create their first Specialized Weapon Variant for free, without the need to purchase a Weapon Frame.
New Black Armoury content will become available within the Black Armoury subscription service, separately from the game's free seasonal updates.

Notes[]
- ↑ In Eclipse Warfare canon, the position "TITAN General" refers to the enlisted Titan-SS appointed as leader of all Titan-SS units.
- ↑ The SpecForce ET-45 Rifle served as the forerunner and inspiration for the DT-45 Assault Rifle.
- ↑ The SpecForce ET-12 Pistol served as the main inspiration for the DTe-12.
Reception[]
Call of Duty: Age of Extinction was released to near-critical acclaim. Metacritic, using a normalized rating of the 0-100 range, calculated an average score of 85 out of 100 based on 39 reviews for the Xbox One version, 27 reviews for the PlayStation 4 version and 19 reviews for the PC version. Reviewers praised the improvements made by Nakamura Interactive to the Class system as well as Class Abilities. Frost Games was also praised for their work on the Loadout system and the addition of "Extinction" which many have called "challenging but not terrible", but were criticized for the Characters system, where most people preferred Skins instead.
IGN gave the game a 7 out of 10, praising the gameplay of the Classes, their unique Abilities as well as the Class Prestiging system, but were vocal about the Weapon Specialist only being able to drop ammo, saying "I one time got into a game where my teammates were a Heavy Trooper, Combat Medic, Vanguard and I was a Ranger. Without a Weapon Specialist, once you run out of ammo, that's it. Game over." in their online review. Play wrote "the gameplay of Age of Extinction feels different than the last game. The improvements made to the Class system as well as being able to Prestige your Class? That's innovative." in their online review. Edge wrote "since Morningwood Arts' acquisition of the Call of Duty series, the games have been quite awesome and Call of Duty: Age of Extinction is just another example of their good treatment for the series." in their online review.
Rooster Teeth also gave their review on the game, saying "Teams RWBY and JNPR created by Morningwood Arts are really different than the original characters; Ruby Rose isn't the cheery and weapon enthusiast like in the show and Jaune Arc knows what he's doing as the Commander of Arc Squad, unlike his original counterpart." in their review.
Trivia[]
- The Advanced Medic Class Ability is similar to the Ultimate Valkyrie ability of Mercy from Overwatch.
- During the game's alpha phase, employees from all of Morningwood Arts' development studios had play tested the game. Many of them had criticized the "Extinction" difficulty setting as being harder than Halo 2's Legendary difficulty. In a behind the scenes video, design director Anakin Nakamura revealed what was originally in the Extinction difficulty.
- Grimm dealt 80% damage to players, meaning they'd kill them in two hits.
- High-Value Tier Grimm dealt an additional 60% damage, essentially allowing them to one-hit players.
- All types of Grimm were all of "High-Value" Tier.
- All Warriors, Scorpions, Vindicators and Stalkers were Elite Tier.
- All Gladiators, Bruisers and Apparitions were Major Tier.
- All Aggressors and Guardians were Ultra Tier.
- Grimm had quadruple the amount of health than Hardcore difficulty.
- This included High-Value Tier Grimm.
- Elite Tier Grimm had 8000 health.
- Major Tier Grimm had 12000 health.
- Ultra Tier Grimm had 16000 health.
- This included High-Value Tier Grimm.
- Instead of encountering Gladiators on the first Grimm Colony, players would instead encounter hordes of Vindicators and pairs of Aggressors.
- 80% more Grimm spawned.
- Allowing a High-Value Grimm to escape during Episodes DID result in a mission failure.
- Many Morningwood Arts play testers noted this as one of the biggest problems with the Extinction difficulty as it was near impossible to neutralize a High-Value Grimm since they had large amounts of health and their damage being way too overpowered.
- The Heads-Up Display was completely absent; meaning the only thing players would see were just Challenges.
- The Relics "Take More Damage", "Smaller Wallet", "Do Less Damage", "Fragile", "Stand Your Ground", and "Earn Your Keep" were all active by default, unless Prestiging to unlock them which disabled them by default.
- Grimm dealt 80% damage to players, meaning they'd kill them in two hits.
- The trailers all depicted a perspective on the setting within the alternate timeline the game is set in.
- The "Call of Duty: Age of Extinction - The Great Fall Reveal Trailer" depicted the Great Fall when the Grimm and Cryptids had overrun Earth's Eclipse Military presence, showing scenes of their invasions across multiple locations. The trailer ends with the text "Mother Natures pays a heavy price..."
- The "Call of Duty: Age of Extinction - Official Trailer" depicts the Korma Empire's invasions across the galaxy, revealing their vast warfleet and armies as they take both the Eclipse Empire and Supreme Republic by surprise and force. The trailer ends with personnel of Eclipse High Command in shock.
- The "Black Armoury Trailer" depicts the Black Armoury and their Black Forges which have been captured by the Korma Empire, showing six scenes of all these Black Forges surrounded by Korman troops. The trailer ends with Vessa and Elena approaching an unknown group of four.
- The "Jaune Arc & Nora Valkyrie Launch Trailer" depicts gameplay of both Commander Jaune Arc and Private Nora Valkyrie in action against the Grimm and Cryptids, showing multiple scenes of the two protecting each other. This trailer also hints that Nora possible harbors romantic feelings for Jaune.
- The "Pyrrha Nikos & Lie Ren Launch Trailer" depicts gameplay of both Sergeant Pyrrha Nikos and Private Lie Ren as well as dialogue between the two sometime in the past, suggesting they were in a relationship. They both wield Queenbreaker and Kingmaker, respectively, in the trailer.
- The "Love's Extinction Event Trailer" depicts gameplay of content included with the Love's Extinction Valentine's Day event. Showing off Ruby Rose and Weiss Schnee both using the First Love and Last Love, respectively, as well as the Love's Extinction outfit variations for Vessa and Elena, and ends with Rose Squad approaching Sally Valentine who is wielding The Valentine.
- There are two trailers for the Day of the Fall event.
- The first trailer "Day of the Fall Event Trailer" depicts the Eclipse Military as well as Vessa and Elena just after the Great Fall, showing shots of people mourning and later the Military pushing against the Grimm and Kormans.
- The second trailer "Day of the Fall Gameplay Trailer" depicts gameplay of Vessa and Elena alongside the two new characters Zavala and Mara Sov fighting against the Grimm on the event-exclusive variation of Survival at Whiskey Hotel.
