Biography[]
Soul of the Machine[]
William Gabe Wilson was born somewhere out in the Southwestern part of the United States of America sometime during the mid-19th century, the age of the Old West. Not much else is known about his past, but he did mention at one point he was an outlaw and a criminal before changing his ways and becoming the Sheriff of an old-western town sometime in the 1880s.
In 1887, Sheriff Wilson was walking around town when he notices a strange, futuristic device on the ground. This device turned out to be a P.T.D. (Personal Teleportation Device). Upon touching it and pressing a button, Sheriff Wilson time travels to the CODOL Institute's Scientific Observations Department laboratories in the year 2036. He is held captive by the scientists for a few days before the cyborgs that were being experimented on in the lab turn on the human scientists. Wilson then makes his escape and follows a security guard named Marcus "Trigger" Lawrence out of the lab and into Downtown Atlanta, Georgia.
Wilson holds Trigger at gunpoint and demands answers from him. A man named Cortex appears and, after explaining who he is and what he's fighting for, recruits both men and gives Wilson the codename "Cowboy". Using his ancient Egyptian medallion, Cortex teleports Trigger, Cowboy and himself to Guilin, China, where they recruit Sergeant Xena Mayfield to the group and send them to Shanghai to find and recruit Lv Bu.
Along with three other mercenaries, they went trough certain parts of China to find Dr. Van Lucker. But they only found more cyborgs to rid the world of. While trying to escape via helicopter, the vehicle crashed and was somehow teleported to an unknown desert location in the United States of America. They find an underground CODOL Institute laboratory and eventually escape using a UFO that had been stored there. It turns out that Dr. Van Lucker was in the UFO and held all four of the mercs hostage until they crashed into an airplane being piloted by four CODOL Scientists from Atlanta, Georgia.
Because the UFO had a teleporter stored inside of it, the collision caused everyone to be teleported back to Guilin, China's mountain range. They were forced to work together to take down the cyborgs and rebuild the teleporter. During the process, Madman teleports back to the same location to confront Dr. Van Lucker. Following an argument between Sergeant and Madman, Van Lucker and the Scientists are teleported out of the area. Cowboy and the three other mercenaries teleport in the hopes of catching up to their location, but instead they end up on a space station somewhere on what appears to be another planet.
