“Seems like your buddies are dead... or undead...”
―Mission Briefing

Dawn of Shadows is the opening map for Call of Duty: Eclipse Warfare's Zombies mode.

Summary[]

Technically, this is not the first standard map but instead an introductory level for the saga in a similar fashion as Call of Duty: WWII's "Prologue" map. However, this doesn't exactly play out as a standard Zombies map either. The player takes control of the sole survivor of a military unit after an experiment gone wrong causes the base to become infected. You must go through the base and slaughter the infected and make it to the other end.

Plot[]

After the Human-Madrelerorn hybrid went insane and attacked the soldiers and scientists, the player awakens in a darkened room surrounded by dead bodies that had been torn apart by the hybrid. The player picks up a MX-1911 sidearm and proceeds to a nearby hallway. A zombie can be seen munching on the corpse of a dead soldier (sometimes scientist) and will charge the player. After gunning down the zombie, the player proceeds down the hallway and heads into the next room.

The player will enter a large storage room where they encounter a few more zombies and a dead soldier's corpse with a DTn-64 CQC shotgun. Pick up the shotgun and blast the infected throughout the storage room. Proceed to a cargo lift and head down to a garage-like area and mow down more zombies. Inside the bed of a truck, there is DTs-5 SMG that can be collected. The player proceeds to the next area.

Through the next door is a large series of laboratories. Near the end is a large locked door. In order to open up the door, the player must roam through each of the labs to find a blue key-card in order to unlock it. Once the key-card is obtained, unlock the door and a cutscene will play, indicating the level is complete.

  • MX-1911
  • DTn-64 CQC
  • DTs-5

Trivia[]

  • The gameplay in this level is not like the standard Zombies Mode maps, but instead has gameplay similar to old school single-player FPS games like Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein.
