- “Nictis, my master, is not the true threat of this Accursed War. There is another, one whose power will wipe you out like a scythe against wheat.”
- ―Enigma
Enigma was a Unistone-powered android created by Nictis and the Dark Order to combat the Rebellion of Realms. He served as the secondary antagonist of the Rebellion of Realms saga of the Roach Chronicles.
Background[]
Rebellion of Realms[]
As part of their Unistone research, the Dark Order sought to create a sentient superweapon capable of challenging the best of the Rebellion of Realms and put an end to their resistance; to that end, the Dark Order created Enigma, an android fueled by both the raw power of Unistone's cosmic energy and the Dark Scepter's dark magic. Over the next couple of days, Nictis and the Dark Order would refine Enigma's programming to allow him to easily combat the Rebellion of Realms, storing him in stasis at their supply station in the Ural Mountains in Russia. As a precaution should the rebellion survive the attack on their headquarters and retaliate, Nictis programmed Enigma to be capable of launching the nuclear warhead prepped at the station to use as an ultimatum.
On June 4th, 2029, the rebellion would come to learn of the location of the Dark Order supply station and the operation being conducted there. As key members of the rebellion infiltrated the facility in an attempt to seize the warhead and procure any intel regarding Nictis' whereabouts, the Dark Order would awaken Enigma, ordering him to start the countdown to launch the warhead at a rebellion stronghold. As the rebellion began to assume control over the facility, Enigma confronted the primary rebellion members at the launch control floor, where he would start the countdown to launch the warhead.
While Enigma fought against the rebellion, he revealed that while Nictis was his master, there was someone else far beyond Nictis' knowledge that would seek to destroy all life as they know it with little to no effort. As the countdown began to reach the final minute, Enigma gloated that only he possessed the power to abort the launch, mocking the heroes that their efforts to halt him were futile. However, he is soon caught off guard by Jacob Roberts, who managed to sneak up on the android from behind and slice his head clean off with a machete. Having identified Enigma as an android beforehand, Jacob revealed that killing him wouldn't hinder them, but instead allow them to succeed. Using Enigma's severed head, Jacob was able to hack into the warhead and deactivate it, stopping the launch and protecting the rest of the rebellion.
Unfortunately for the rebellion, Enigma's severed head would soon be used against them; The Visitor, the figure previously mentioned by Enigma, would later singlehandedly assault the now rebellion-occupied supply station in order to utilize the warhead for his own plans. Discovering Enigma's head left by the control panel, The Visitor would use it to gain access to the warhead's controls. After retrofitting and launching the warhead to create the Convergence, The Visitor left Enigma's head behind, its purpose having been fulfilled to him.
Universal Convergence[]
Both Enigma's severed head and body would be re-discovered by the United Heroes while investigating the now-abandoned supply station to retrace The Visitor's steps. Both parts would later be completely destroyed when the facility was consumed by a black hole manifested by The Visitor in an attempt to eliminate the heroes.
Personality[]
Having been programmed to have as little of human emotion as possible, Enigma is extremely loyal and submissive to his creators. While in combat, Enigma is extremely ruthless and merciless, his skills proving to be the rebellion's most challenging opponent besides Nictis. However, as a result of the mere days used to try and refine Enigma's systems, several flaws would show from his rushed development; the most key flaw would be his massive ego, as the knowledge of being revered as Nictis' greatest superweapon would make him incredibly arrogant and subject to underestimating the true threat posed by his adversaries. Due to his flaw, it would ultimately be his downfall as he was killed while reveling in his preemptive victory, oblivious to Jacob's presence behind him.

Trivia[]
- Enigma's design is inspired by Omega, the Tier 100 skin of the Season 4 Battle Pass from Fortnite.
- Enigma's artwork depicts him wielding a SCAR-L, despite the weapon's exclusion from the Rebellion of Realms saga. In combat, he instead wields a Volk Mk II.
- As a result of his deep connection to Unistone, Enigma was able to foresee the near future involving The Visitor, who also had a connection to Unistone due to his imprisonment within the material for decades.
