Futuristic Interlude: Countdown to Midnight, also known simply as Futuristic Interlude and Countdown to Midnight, is an animated tie-in short film directed and written by Jesse Spade. It is funded and distributed by Morningwood Entertainment. It is set between Futuristic Redemption and Futuristic Midnight, and sequel to the former. The film is commercially available in both English and Japanese, the first in the Futuristic Series. It is part of the Countdown to Midnight promotional campaign that led to the release of Futuristic Midnight.
The short film follows Synapse who is now living in Midnight City with a new group of allies led by Allison Bridger, after meeting Bridger in Crystal Springs a month prior. While out one night, Synapse comes across old foes conspiring with shady mercenaries and becomes involved in a dangerous conspiracy.
