Cold Open[]
Chaos descends upon the world as the Twilight Collective rapidly scales their uprising worldwide. A TV stand in Neomuna, the very same stand that The Dealer met with Isabelle Lakewood at two years prior, displays numerous news reports showcasing the Twilight Collective's relentless engagements with the various megacorporations of the world, forcing their leaders into hiding and crippling their armies. The various feeds on the TVs then turn off one-by-one as one reporter fearfully asks if anyone could stop the collective before the TV broadcasting their report cuts out.
Act I[]
Two months have passed since the start of the Twilight Collective Uprising. At sunset on May 14th, a VTOL flies through the sky above the war-torn Central District on approach to Atlas Tower, which has since been taken over by the Twilight Collective and converted into their main headquarters. Outside the tower stands Marshal Wolfe and several of his elite troops, who stand in formation as the VTOL descends in front of them and lands. The back hatch of the VTOL opens while Marshal crouches down to take a knee. A figure emerges from the VTOL, revealing themselves as Mrs. T as Marshal welcomes his master. Mrs. T commends Marshal for everything he's done before gesturing for him to stand. Marshal stands back up and begins to walk with Mrs. T as the two approach the entrance to the tower.
Mrs. T inquires about the status of the Megacorporation Global Alliance formed in the wake of the uprising, and Marshal explains that the alliance, while it still stands afloat on Paradise Island for the time being, poses no immediate threat and that it wouldn't be long until the collective breaches their defenses guarding the island. Mrs. T then asks about "her" status, and Marshal reassures Mrs. T that "she" is currently being hunted by his best hunters, remarking that it won't be long now until his men report back to him about the outcome of their mission. Mrs. T's expression remains neutral after hearing Marshal's response, reminding him that she personally trained "her" herself and that "she" wasn't someone who would go down easily. Marshal acknowledges Mrs. T's comment and responds that even if "she" was still alive, her options of escape were rapidly dwindling. Mrs. T replies that even though that might be the case, if "she" was to reach the alliance, "she" would become even more of a problem.
That night, Iana dashes through a wooded area in former South Carolina as she closes in on the coastline, where a large Atlas International checkpoint protecting the entrance to the bridge leading to Paradise Island was located at. Close behind her are Marshal's men, who continue to chase after her and try to impede her from reaching the checkpoint at all costs. Iana pants heavily as she continues running, frantically avoiding various stumps and fallen trees in her way. Iana manages to emerge from the wooded area and pops out in front of the checkpoint, alerting Renee "Trinity" Lynch and her guards there. Iana yells for them to help as the Twilight Collective operatives hunting her also pop out from the woods in clear sight of Trinity and her forces. The operatives attempt to shoot Iana, who narrowly ducks into cover unscathed as Trinity's forces immediately open fire on the operatives. After a brief firefight, the guards successfully eliminate the collective operatives.
After confirming that all of the pursuing collective operatives were deceased, Iana surrenders herself to the guards. Trinity interrogates Iana regarding her intentions, and Iana reveals that she was a former Victorian Arms enforcer who came to escape the collective and to provide the alliance crucial intel that could change everything. Trinity asks what this intel was, and Iana reveals that it was the identity of the true leader calling the Twilight Collective's shots, much to Trinity's surprise. One of the guards begins to frisk Iana while Trinity contacts the security team stationed at the other checkpoint on Paradise Island about the situation and to receive approval to transport a prisoner. Once Iana was cleared of not possessing any firearms on her person, Trinity receives approval to have Iana transported to the New Elpis P.A.R.A.D.O.X. Precinct for protection. Iana cooperates with the guards and is willingly handcuffed before she is then placed into the back of a transport vehicle and sent across the bridge to Paradise Island.
On Paradise Island, Jennifer "Vega" Reese undergoes physiotherapy in her room at the MGA's makeshift military base in the valley emcompassing the surface of the Central Vault's entrance, revealing that the spinal wound she received from Marshal caused her to become paralyzed from the waist down, forcing her to use state-of-the-art leg braces to walk again. Tomiko "Vendetta" Hayashi enters Vega's room to inform her that Amber Summers and her team back at Techno Tower were still maintaining their defenses before asking how she was doing, though he stops mid-sentence as he glances down at her leg braces, which reminds him of the circumstances that caused her injury. Vendetta attempts to apologize, though Vega stops him, saying that her injury wasn't his fault and that he shouldn't keep beating himself up over it. Vendetta tells Vega that it is his mission to ensure that his teammates make it home in one piece, saying that he failed once before with Demi and that he's vowed ever since then to never have something like that ever happen again.
Vega sharply sighs, telling Vendetta that forcing a mission such as that upon himself will only bring him pain when things fall apart, elaborating that there will always be variables in a mission that are completely out of their control and that he needs to accept that. Vendetta counters, saying that if things fell apart, then he wasn't doing his job right. After a brief pause in the conversation when it became clear that Vega did not wish to further discuss the topic, Vendetta sighs and gets up to takes his leave, telling Vega to get a good night's rest. He then stops at the door and finishes his apology before closing Vega's door behind him, leaving Vega alone to disappointingly sigh and continue her physiotherapy. Just then, Vega receives a notification on her Techno Watch from Trinity, informing her of the incident at the mainland security checkpoint.
Act II[]
The next morning, the representatives on the Megacorporation Global Alliance assemble at New Elpis City Hall, accompanied by various soldiers under their command. The representatives murmur with each other just as the doors of the meeting chamber open and Iana is escorted into the room by two guards, taking position in front of the representatives' seats. Konstantin Köhler speaks up first among the representatives, announcing to everyone in the room that the purpose of their assemblage here today was to hear the case of Iana regarding the intel she allegedly has concerning the true leader of the Twilight Collective. Iana affirms Köhler's statement regarding her intentions, thanking the alliance for granting her an audience with them.
Iana begins her testimony by introducing herself to everyone, stating her former occupation with Victorian Arms and briefly touching upon a prior altercation with the Atlas Security Service back in 2139 with regret in her voice. She moves on, stating that she wasn't looking for forgiveness for her past, but rather to do something right because it was the right thing to do. Iana briefly pauses as she struggles to find her next words and drifts her gaze down towards the ground, prompting much of the audience to silently look at her with confused expressions. Iana looks up with newfound determination, proclaiming in front of everyone that the identity of the Twilight Collective's true leader was none other than her mother, Mrs. T. This claim causes much of the audience to audibly gasp, and Krystina Wright asks if there was any evidence to back her claim.
Just then, Iana's sister Alice, callsign Phantom, steps up from the audience, explaining that Iana has always been deeply loyal to her mother and her company; under no circumstances would Iana ever dare to accuse her of such an act and go to such lengths to expose her as it would be seen as the highest form of betrayal to their relationship. Iana is briefly stunned upon hearing this, surprised that her sister would quickly back her claims due to their strained relationship being what largely led to Alice to eventually join up with Techno. Iana recollects herself, directing her attention to Alice and stating that something has happened to their other sister Glimpse. Before Alice could ask what she meant, Iana stops her, saying that she had made an indirect revelation that came from witnessing Glimpse's fate as Iana's eyes suddenly began to glow, alarming everyone. Iana reveals that she was an artificial Nexu created by Mrs. T, and that Mrs. T herself was something far more dangerous than anyone could imagine.
Meanwhile at Atlas Tower, The Dealer, now in his true form, sits at Jonathan Irons' former desk in his dimly-lit office, his hands covering his face in frustration as Marshal silently stands before him with a neutral look, having just informed him of his men's failure to eliminate Iana. After a moment, The Dealer, having had time to collect his thoughts, jerks up in anger and viciously swats all of the items on his desk aside while Marshal barely reacts to the outburst. The Dealer slowly begins to calm down after a short while, remarking that there was no turning back now. Marshal requests to speak freely, and The Dealer, while still annoyed by Marshal's news, grants him his request. Marshal starts by stating his unwaving loyalty to The Dealer and his cause, proclaiming that no matter what happens now, he will always stand by his side. The Dealer, knowing that Marshal was simply building up to his question, tells him to get to his point.
Marshal sighs, and asks The Dealer what exactly he was. The Dealer briefly pauses, staring blanking at Marshal, who returns the sentiment by not breaking eye contact with his master. The Dealer breaks his silence by sighing, bitterly telling Marshal that he was but an inferior clone. Upon hearing this, Marshal does not follow up with words, but instead gives The Dealer a look, knowing there was more to the answer that he needs to elaborate without him having to ask. The Dealer relents, and starts by explaining that, what seemed like a lifetime ago, he was created as a clone for a powerful Nexu being to use as a vessel. The clone managed to gain self-awareness from the experiments and yearned to replace the original, ultimately proving that he was the superior version of him. However, The Dealer lamented that he had lost that right to do so, and he was ultimately struck down in his quest. The Dealer solemnly remarked that he was nearly about to give up and accept his death, but was stopped by a sudden urge, a power unlike anything he felt before as his mind aimlessly drifted in the darkness beyond death.
Before he could understand what was happening, The Dealer manifested in Earth-52319. The Dealer elaborated that he had reincarnated; due to his nature as a clone, The Dealer's reincarnation was impure, leading The Dealer's newly-created form to become what it was today. The Dealer explained that, while initially it seemed he was free to do whatever he wanted now, he became aware that he needed to remain hidden, as if he made his presence too apparent, he would attract the attention of the Nexus Apparitions and his original self due to the Nexu power and DNA he possessed. To that end, The Dealer made it his goal, his very purpose, to work within the shadows, building up an army to one day fight the Nexu beings that would come to remove him once he stepped fully into the spotlight. The Dealer sidetracks briefly, mentioning that he made preparations to manipulate his potential future reincarnations much like his original self experimented with should he fail in his quest, though he cryptically remarked that that avenue was no longer adequete.
The Dealer closes his explanation, revealing that his true aim of the uprising against the megacorporations was to breed an army that would allow him to stand up to the Nexus Apparitions and his original self, and one day prove that he is the "true" version of himself. The Dealer then asks Marshal if his eariler proclaimation regarding his loyalties has now changed, and though Marhsal does not immediately respond to the question, Marshal eventually answers firmly that, so long as they finally take out the MGA and establish a new world order under the Twilight Collective's regime as he promised him long ago, then he has no issue with The Dealer and his true agenda with the collective. The Dealer nods, agreeing that he will deliver on that promise in due time, remarking that more dire needs have risen that require priority. Satisfied with The Dealer's pledge, Marshal takes his leave from the office to prepare his soldiers for the coming conflict.
Now alone, The Dealer glances over to a dark corner of the room, where a shadowy silhouette silently emerges from the shadows, their purple glowing eyes piercing through the darkness as they open. The Dealer coldly ponders aloud to the figure that their use was perhaps not yet finished. The Dealer then closes his own eyes as he begins to sense something. The Dealer chuckles and muses to himself, proclaiming that he was ready for whatever "judgment" the Nexus Apparitions and his original self had for him as he then opened his eyes, revealing that they too were now glowing.
Act III[]
Sophia quietely meditates in a secluded area of the Nexus, with No Name floating around her. Amidst her meditation, she tries to search for answers ascertaining to The Son's whereabouts as she resonates with the Nexus and the countless multiverses inhabiting it, sensing a growing Nexu presence similar to The Son's within the Roach Chronicles' Earth-52319. After taking a moment to analyze the presence, Sophia jerks up and gasps, proclaiming that she finally found her father. Thor's voice calls out from the void, remarking that the presence she sensed wasn't her father's before materializing next to Sophia. Sophia asks what he meant, and Thor informs her that the Nexus Apparitions have been alerted to news rapidly spreading throughout Earth-52319; a rogue clone created by her father has been revealed to be residing within the universe, wreaking havoc upon its inhabitants.
Sophia realizes that her host's friends in Earth-52319 are likely in danger as a result, and immediately requests Thor to assemble the other Nexus Apparitions to retaliate against the rogue clone. Thor however interjects, explaining that intervening on such a scale would reveal their presence to all of the universe's inhabitants and, by extension, reveal the existence of other parallel universes, remarking that such knowledge is only reserved for those who can be absolutely trusted with it. Sophia counters Thor, saying that she won't stand by while her host's friends were left to fend for themselves against an otherworldly danger and that the clone has already crossed that line for them in regards to spilling the beans. Accepting that Sophia's mind was made up and that she had a point, Thor relents, and questions how she planned on dealing with the rogue clone.
Back at the MGA meeting, Jonathan Irons finishes writing down his notes and requests Iana to confirm the facts he jotted down. Iana agrees, and Irons begins to read off his notes to everyone in the chamber; in his notes, Irons states that The Dealer is a Nexu clone seeking to use Earth-52319 to test the capabilities of an army of his creation to one day battle against his original variant to prove his dominance, commenting that Iana and her augmented adoptive sister Glimpse were intended to be potential failsafe vessels in the event The Dealer needed to reincarnate, a fate Iana managed to evade while Glimpse was effectively turned into a mindless puppet through her augments. Iana verifies the information to Irons as Alice silently listens, devastated at what became of Glimpse. Vendetta speaks up, explaining that with this information, it was now ill-advised to take lethal action against The Dealer directly, as doing so likened the probability of him reincarnating and escaping their grasp. Stratus interrupts, commenting that as it stood, the MGA couldn't possibly launch an offensive campaign at this point in time and that they're only barely able to maintain their defenses around Paradise Island and the mainland bridge.
Gideon adds in to the conversation, questioning the possibility of using their weakened appearance to their advantage to lure the Twilight Collective and their leaders into a trap on the island. Melissa Anders interjects, saying that they would have to willingly let the collective make landfall onto the island by pulling back their defenses, something that would be extremely risky to everyone on the island, including civilians. Anders adds that even if they were to goad the collective into attempting an offense, they would need to have something extremely compelling to get both The Dealer and Marshal to personally lead the attack at this point in time. Soteria speaks up, suggesting that they could do that by feigning the presence of the original variant, someone The Dealer craved to battle with and thus giving him an incentive to attack. At that moment, Sophia's voice echoes through the chamber, saying that it would make more sense if she did in fact arrive. A portal then opens in the chamber, allowing Sophia and the Four Apparitions to emerge. Deducing they were Nexu beings, Irons immediately questions Sophia if she was the original self of The Dealer and thus the one responsible for creating this issue, though Sophia explains that she was actually the original self's daughter, adding that her father The Son was currently unavailable.
Sophia firstly apologizes for The Dealer's actions and explains to everyone that she was aware that they couldn't simply kill him and instead proposes they imprison him in a place where he couldn't be allowed to die, a place where normal time does not flow and a single moment lasts for an eternity. Stratus asks what that kind of place was, and Sophia explains that she learned from scowering the Nexus Archives that within each universe is a special vault designed to contain and suppress nominal amounts of excess universal energy, something that could confine the likes of a Nexu given its unique properties. This immediately catches everyone's attention, as they realize that Sophia was talking about the nearby Central Vault that they previously used to draw out its Fractured-Space Energy supply to power their technologies. Rox immediately hatches an idea, and suggests that, like they previously mentioned, they would draw The Dealer and his forces onto the island, adding that they would additionally lure them to the MGA base on top of the Central Vault in order to trap them within it. Vega adds that this move would effectively wipe out the Twilight Collective's entire leadership in one fell swoop, an act that would shatter the collective.
Köhler interjects, commenting that in order to do this, they would have to also be present on top of the vault when it opened, mentioning that this would also wipe them out too. Stratus quickly suggests that they create something to allow the alliance to pull out their forces quick enough before the collective could realize what was happening, proposing the idea of creating a special teleportation gadget to be supplied to everyone that would be present at the vault in order to teleport them to safety just before the vault opened, ensuring minimal collateral damage to their own forces. Thor adds that they can power these gadgets with Nexu energy to function, further amplifying the Nexu signature in the area and allowing them to deceive The Dealer even more. Stratus nods in agreement at the idea, and requests Danielle "Rhythm" Greer to round up the other Tech Agents stationed on the island, stating that they have a lot of work to do in order to get these devices created and supplied to everyone in an effecient manner. Vendetta remarks that once The Dealer senses the sudden congestion of Nexu energy appearing on the island, it would likely be a matter of less than a day for him to get his forces prepared to attack.
Irons stands, attracting everyone's attention. He states that this coming conflict will ultimately determine the outcome of their world's very future; if they win, the Twilight Collective will be dealt a significant blow that would likely unravel the whole organization, allowing the alliance to retake their world and bring peace to all, or if they lost, not only would they be wiped out, but the Twilight Collective would become unstoppable in their conquest, putting countless innocent lives at stake. Irons acknowledges the whole situation as a massive gamble, and advises everyone to ensure that there were no loose ends when it came down to every move they make from this point on. Everyone shares a look with one another, each showing a face of determination. With approval from the other representatives, Irons approves of the operation and announces that the representatives will ensure any civilian populaces on the island are evacuated from New Elpis and close proximity to the Central Vault. Irons adjourns the meeting by supportingly telling everyone that they're on the clock and to show the collective what they're truly capable of. Everyone in the room rallies to Irons' speech, and begin to depart from the meeting chamber.
As immediate preparations for the coming battle commence, Iana and Alice step aside outside city hall to speak to one another in private. Iana starts by saying that, no matter how she said it or how many times she did, the word sorry wasn't going to be enough to amend her past actions against Alice. She offers Alice the chance to get back at her in whatever manner she wanted, though Alice disappointingly shakes her head, saying that holding a grudge against someone who truly wants to change for the better isn't good. Shocked, Iana explains that she shouldn't get off the hook just like that, telling Alice to at least do something. Alice softly smiles, and says that she is doing something by forgiving her, leaving Iana speechless. Alice begins to take her leave, and Iana attempts to stop her, asking what changed over the years for Alice to just quickly forgive everything she did to her. Alice stops and looks back at Iana, saying that she grew up and saw the world in a diffferent light instead of remaining under their mother's shadow. Alice then parts, telling Iana that she too was now on that path of growth to discover for herself.
Act IV[]
At sunset in the streets of the Los Angeles District in Midnight City, Allison "Nightstalker" Texas organizes her forces in the area to immediately mobilize for Paradise Island as per The Dealer's orders. Overhead in Techno Tower, Amber Summers, Envoy, Samantha "Pulse" Reed, Jessie "Dynamo" Kessler and Tsuki, having been tasked to maintain the tower's defenses, observe the mass mobilization of the Twilight Collective's forces in the area as they slowly depart from the district. Amber contacts Vendetta, informing him that, as they expected, the collective was amassing any and all of their soldiers for an all-out assault of Paradise Island. Vendetta acknowledges the information, saying that it would take them until morning to make landfall on the island, thus giving the alliance an approximate timeframe to operate with. Before ending their call, Vendetta tells Amber how much of a gamble this was for the MGA; Vendetta explains that if they were to fail, Amber would be given the title of Regent Commander of Techno, ordering her to give the collective whatever hell she wanted if all hope was lost. Amber, while thankful for being entrusted with such a position, remarks that she hopes that this promotion wouldn't come to pass any time soon and bids Vendetta good luck.
That night, the MGA's forces gather at their makeshift base to listen to the plan formulated by Techno, Sophia and the Nexus Apparitions. Vendetta uses his helmet to project a holographic overlay of Paradise Island and starts by relaying the information he received from Amber. Vendetta explains that the collective will strike the mainland checkpoint first, and gives orders to Trinity and her patrols to immediately fall back at the first sight of collective forces approaching their position and to take out a part of the bridge behind them, thus buying them some time to escape while also delaying the collective's ground forces from advancing. Vega adds that the island's exterior defenses will ensure that the collective cannot attack by air nor sea, and remarks that the defenses are not on the compromised Atlas systems. Rox explains that, given the size of New Elpis and the fact that the source of the Nexu signature was beyond the city, the collective will likely avoid pushing into the city and instead go around it to reach the valley quicker, though Stratus advises not leave the city completely unguarded in the event some of the collective forces do decide to go through the city.
Vendetta switches the overlay to that of the valley, and explains that once the collective reaches the valley, the MGA's objective is to hold their position for as long as they can until they can confirm that The Dealer is on-site and ensure as much of the collective's assault force is within the area. Sophia adds that, once The Dealer does arrive, she will personally deal with him and keep him distracted long enough for the Nexus Apparitions to override the vault's hatch and overload the portal leading into the vault's interior with Nexu energy, creating a singularity effect that will absorb everything within a five-mile radius of the hatch and contain it within the vault. Thor remarks that if all goes to plan, not only will The Dealer be sealed away within the vault unable to use his powers, but the bulk of the collective's best forces spearheading their assault will also be dealt with, thus crippling the collective entirely and allowing the MGA to launch a counterattack to reclaim their territories. Sophia explains that there will be a fifteen second interval between the Nexus Apparitions priming the hatch and the singularity detonation; Vendetta highlights that those fifteen seconds will be the moment when the MGA is authorized to use their teleporation devices to immediately teleport away from the valley to safety. Vendetta solemnly mentions that if someone is unable to activate their teleporter in time, then they will be forever sealed in the vault with the collective, and strongly advises for everyone not to hesitate to teleport to safety the moment the go-ahead to is given. Vendetta then asks if there are any questions, and upon hearing no response from anyone, he concludes the briefing and orders everyone to finalize any preparations, remarking that this was it.
After the meeting, Vega, Stratus, Rox and Soteria meet up with Vendetta to have a final meal with one another before the battle. Rox expresses her confidence in everyone's ability and believes that things should work out relatively smoothly on their part, though Vega reminds her that there will always be factors that they can't account for, and comments that tomorrow would be their greatest trial. Vega notices Vendetta's visual reaction to her comment, and she tells him that if anything goes wrong, it's not his fault, reminding him that this is a massive team effort and that one person isn't to blame for any miscalculations. Soteria adds that Vendetta is a fantastic leader and that he should be proud of what he has achieved, commenting that his leadership skills and confidence are a key inspiration for everyone present to have faith in him and the plan. Stratus tells Vendetta to have faith with everyone just like they with him. Touched by his team's words, Vendetta smiles and lightens up, thanking his team for the inspiring words before proposing a toast for tomorrow's efforts. The five of them all raise their cups and cheer, while Alice quietly observes their celebration in the darkness of the background. Alice sighs and turns to leave, though she quickly finds herself facing down Iana.
Surprised that her sister was here, Alice asks what she was doing. Iana explains that she thought it through for a while and that she discovered what she wants to do with her path; to help fight alongside her sister in the coming battle, leaving Alice touched. Iana asks what Alice was just doing, though Alice's expressions of brief contention quickly fade as she does not respond and instead looks at her sister somberly. Iana asks if it was Glimpse that was on her mind, and Alice solemnly confirms. Alice laments that it seemed that their family will never been on the same side with one another, and Iana comforts her sister by hugging her, saying that, no matter what, she will not stop trying to save Glimpse from The Dealer's corruption. Alice asks what would happen if there came a time where they couldn't save her, and Iana sharply sighs, saying that if that day did come, then they would have to accept whatever fate happens together just as Glimpse would, though the lump in her voice clearly conveys to Alice what she had in mind. The two remain silent as they continue to hug, both quietly tearing up.
The next morning around 6:30am, Trinity and her forces at the mainland checkpoint anxiously await the impending arrival of the Twilight Collective's massive ground force inbound to their position. Right as Trinity is about to radio in to Vendetta to give him an update, she stops after becoming alerted to the sound of armored vehicles approaching in the distance. Trinity orders her forces to get ready as three armored vehicles suddenly pull up on the checkpoint and begin to open fire. Trinity and her forces barely manage to evade the barrage of bullets by jumping into their nearby armored transport vehicle and taking off down the bridge towards Paradise Island as their attackers begin to pursue them. Trinity radios Vendetta, informing him of the attack. Vendetta urges Trinity and her forces to get past mile marker seven on the bridge, where a system designed to remove the previous mile of the holographic bridge was set up at. Trinity acknowledges and ends the call before taking control of the vehicle's remote machine gun turrets on the roof to open fire on their attacks. Trinity manages to take out one of the armored cars and destroy the machine gun turrets on the remaining vehicles before running out of ammo in her turrets. Just before the attackers could prepare to ram Trinity's vehicle off the side of the bridge, Trinity's vehicle passes the sensor at mile marker seven, causing the previous mile of the bridge to disappear and sending the attackers pummeling into the Atlantic Ocean right before they could reach the mile marker themselves. Back at mile marker six where the bridge was now out at, the large Twilight Collective force is forced to come to a dead stop. Marshal and The Dealer exit their armored vehicle and angrily stare at Trinity's vehicle as it continued down the bridge in the distance before ordering their forces to re-enable the missing section.
Act V[]
A few hours later just before 10:00am, the MGA forces remain hunkered down throughout the makeshift base, patiently awaiting the arrival of the Twilight Collective forces who had finally made landfall on the island. Vendetta radios Trinity, who managed to stealthily establish overwatch to the entrance of the valley, and asks for an update. Trinity explains that everything was going to plan; the Twilight Collective ignored New Elpis entirely and are going straight for the Nexu signature in the heart of the valley, adding that there are thousands of soldiers marching down the footpaths to the makeshift base within range of the projected blast as she speaks. Vendetta inquires about The Dealer, and Trinity reveals she spotted him in one of the leading armored vehicles along with Marshal and Nightstalker, adding that she noticed a fourth prominent individual with them that she didn't recognize. Vendetta acknowledges and orders her to radio him when it seemed like no more collective forces were entering the valley. Trinity agrees, and bids everyone good luck before going radio silent. Vendetta rallies the combined MGA forces and orders them into defensive positions as the Twilight Collective's leading forces then arrive at the base's main gate and engage the auto-turrets set up.
Despite the turrets' best efforts, they are quickly taken out by the machine gun turrets of the armored vehicles. The Dealer, Marshal, Nightstalker and the mysterious cloaked fourth individual step out of their armored vehicle and rally their forces to push into the base, thus beginning the long-awaited battle between the two factions. With the clash between the Twilight Collective and MGA forces finally in full swing, The Dealer tells Marshal that he always keeps his word, proclaiming that not only will the MGA fall today, but he will finally defeat The Son once and for all and prove his superiority. The Dealer then orders Marshal, Nightstalker and the mysterious fourth to "have some fun for themselves" and enter the heat of the battle, all of whom immediately comply with the command and push into the base to lead their respective groups comprising the assault force. Throughout the battle, the MGA diligently stand their ground as they fend off against the relentless onslaught of the Twilight Collective. Amidst the battle, various individual moments occur; Soteria manages to deploy her holographic shield to save a few stunned MGA soldiers from an explosion, Rox and Stratus work together to disable an armored vehicle that pushed itself deep into the base, and Vendetta and Vega manage to push back a fierce attempt by the Twilight Collective to overwhelm a weakened section of the MGA's defenses. Just as these heroic moments finish playing out, they are all interrupted by the arrival of a Twilight Collective commander; Marshal manages to personally confront Vendetta and Vega amidst the chaos, Nightstalker detonates the armored vehicle to separate Rox and Stratus, and Soteria is attacked by the mysterious fourth commander, who is finally revealed to be a corrupted Glimpse.
Upon seeing this, Alice and Iana rush to Soteria's aid and tell her to help Rox and Stratus while they fought their corrupted sister. Soteria acknowledges and runs off to save Stratus from being executed by Nightstalker in the nick of time, pushing her down to the ground and fighting her off with help from Rox. Iana and Alice plead with Glimpse to fight off the corruption, though their words do not reach her as the corruption was too far into her head for her to regain her senses on her own and she instead attacks her sisters. Marshal recognizes Vega as the one he crippled back at Atlas Tower upon noticing her leg braces, and taunts her over this by proclaiming that it was time he finished the job. Vega and Vendetta look at each other, and reply that Marshal was right; it was time to finish this as the two engage Marshal in a fierce close-quarters battle upon disarming him. Meanwhile, The Dealer makes his way through the base himself, utilizing his ever-growing powers as a result of his close proximity to large quantities of Nexu energy.
The Dealer calls out for The Son to show himself upon reaching an opening, and in a bright flash, a figure manifests before him. At first glance, The Dealer laughs upon seeing the sillhouette of what he believes to be The Son and getting the idea of finally being able to fight him, only to become confused upon seeing that it was Sophia when the light finally fades out. The Dealer questions Sophia where The Son was, becoming more confused when he senses that she possessed the Nexu signature that matched The Son's. Sophia tells The Dealer that The Son isn't here, and that she was The Son's daughter, aptly-named The Daughter. Enraged, The Dealer demands Sophia to tell him where The Son was, though she laments that she herself was also seeking the answer to that question. Unable to accept her words, The Dealer rejects the notion that she didn't know where The Son was, and resorts to proclaiming that he would beat the answer out of her himself. Sophia responds by summoning No Name, proclaiming that he would have to try if he wanted to come close to harming her before engaging The Dealer in a climatic showdown.
As the battle raged throughout the base, Trinity remained on overwatch duty away from the battlefield and notices that no more Twilight Collective forces were entering the valley. Trinity quickly reports this to Vendetta, who remains locked in battle against Marshal. Vendetta manages to acknowledge Trinity's report, and sends a signal to the Nexus Apparitions on standby with his Techno Watch to confirm that it was time. While Vendetta is momentarily distracted with sending the signal, Marshal attempts to attack him while his guard was down, only for Vega to block the attack, which damages her teleportation device on her person. Despite this, Vega gets the opportunity to counterattack and stab Marshal in the abdomen with a knife, putting him in his place. Simultaneously, the Nexus Apparitions get into position around the hatch of the Central Vault, and using their powers in harmony, they are able to open the hatch and overload the portal within, beginning the countdown before the singularity happened. Before teleporting away with the other apparitions, Thor tells Vendetta to issue the order, and Vendetta immediately complies and broadcasts to all MGA forces to pull out with their devices. The MGA immediately stops fighting and quickly use their teleporters to teleport away from the area, confusing the Twilight Collective. Knowing that they were out of time and thus unable to save her, Iana and Alice tearfully apologize to Glimpse before teleporting away before her very eyes. Soteria, Rox and Stratus manage to teleport away after successfully beating down Nightstalker, while Sophia manages to push back The Dealer in their struggle, mockingly stating that he was nothing like The Son before teleporting away, simultaneously enraging and confusing The Dealer.
Vega and Vendetta attempt to teleport away, only for Vega to realize that she can't as her device was broken after blocking Marshal's attack. She quickly realizes what this meant for her and looks at Vendetta, reminding him that they can never control every variable and tells him not to blame himself for what was about to happen. Vendetta realizes what she was implying too late and could only scream for Vega as he teleports away, leaving Marshal to ask Vega what was happening. Accepting her now inevitable fate, Vega solemnly responds that it was "checkmate" for the Twilight Collective as the fully-formed singularity detonates, absorbing everything within the area into the Central Vault. Realizing what was happening and now at the mercy of the singularity, The Dealer could only scream in horror as he and all of his troops are absorbed into the vault, permanently sealing them within alongside Vega. Meanwhile, within a secure underground complex beneath New Elpis, the MGA representatives watch the detonation at the Central Vault from various CCTVs just outside the blast radius as countless MGA soldiers teleport into the various rooms of the complex. Upon arriving, Vendetta frantically runs out of the room he teleported into, confusing the other Techno members he ran by before barging into the main CCTV room to see the footage of the detonation. Devastated by what just happened, Vendetta begins to cry in anguish as the shockwave of the detonation could be felt throughout the bunker. Rox, Stratus and Soteria enter the room shortly behind Vendetta, and upon seeing his current state and realizing that Vega wasn't with them, the group quickly realize that Vega was no longer with them and sealed within the vault. While cheering could be heard in the various other rooms of the complex over the MGA's victory, everyone in the room with Vendetta crouched down onto the ground and hugged him in silence, mourning what became of their now-lost friend.
Epilogue[]
With the defeat of the Twilight Collective, numerous events occurred throughout the world. In the immediate aftermath of the battle, it quickly became known that Vega's sacrifice was instrumental to ensure the order to carry out the detonation was successful, and as a result, Vega became internationally recognized for her actions. At the now desolate valley where only the Central Vault remained, a memorial was held atop the permanently-sealed hatch for Vega and any other MGA soldiers who gave their lives defending the base. On stage, Vendetta presents Vega's eulogy to everyone attending the memorial, and while still coping with the reality of what happened, he finally accepts Vega's words on uncertainty and that what happened was Vega's choice to make, bringing him inner clarity. Rox, Stratus and the other second-in-commands take the stage alongside Vendetta, and present flowers atop the ruined hatch in memory of Jennifer "Vega" Reese. Privately, Iana and Alice hold their own memorial in memory of Glimpse, while Tsuki hosts her own memorial in Midnight City to properly honor her late father.
Without any of their leaders and a massive chunk of their army completely wiped out, the Twilight Collective's remaining forces scattered across the world quickly found themselves unable to defend themselves from the MGA as the megacorporations on the alliance finally reorganized their own armies and reclaimed their territories, putting an end to the collective. The MGA itself also saw change, and with newfound unity between all of the megacorporations of the world, the MGA was rebranded as an intergovernmental organization to succeed the former United Nations, bringing forth a long-awaited era of world peace and stability between territories. Following this reform, the Atlas Council publicly acknowledged its mistake with the trial that led Marshal down the path he took, offering a large reimbursement to any remaining members of his family tree. Organizations with direct ties to The Dealer such as Victorian Arms were disbanded, while organizations who were affiliated to Victorian Arms without knowledge of The Dealer's true motives such as Shadow Company publicly denounced and disavowed its involvements with the group, offering to compensate for any damage they felt they were indirectly responsible for while associated with Victorian Arms.
By October, the world had finally recovered from the Twilight Collective Uprising and began to move on. At Midnight City University, normal activities on the campus were back in operation. Professor Jonathan Edwardson peacefully sits in his office, looking at various pictures of prior graduating classes hung up on the wall before glancing out his window at the sight of a beautiful day. Elsewhere on the campus, Helena Maxton and her friends, including Chloe Palmer and Gwendolyn Tennyson, sit around a meeting table as Helena shows them and her adoptive sisters Casey Dawson and Marina Dawson her plans to form Nightfall, her own research institute dedicated to spearheading a new frontier of scientific endeavors. Everyone in the room voices their support for the idea, much to Helena's delight as she begins to offer them positions within the institute. Simultaneously in the Nexus, Sophia contently watches as her friends move on with their now peaceful lives.
Thor appears behind her and makes himself known. Sophia closes the small clock portal observing her friends into her hands and turns around to face Thor, and offers some word of celebration for dealing with her father's rogue clone. He then tells her to come with him as Heimdall teleports the two from their location to a deep, hidden part of the Nexus that only her father, Thor and Heimdall had access to, revealing it to be a chamber full of artificial Nexu bodies and where the Rogue Clone originated from. He further reveals that The Son, as Mr. Tachibana, sought to circumvent his "curse" by experimenting with clone bodies. Given what a rogue clone could do, Thor urges her to destroy the chamber, saying that The Son most likely forgot the place even existed. After a small moment of thinking, Sophia destroys the chamber and returns to the Nexus.
Meanwhile back in the Plane of Euthymia, after spending some time attempting to convince Ei to return to the Nexus so he could resume his duties as its ruler, she finally relents. With this decision, she leaves Yae Miko in charge of Inazuma in her absence. Yae bids farewell to Ei and Filius; hugging Ei and shaking Filius' hand. However, just before The Son and Ei could depart, a girl appears through a small portal, almost startling all three and causing them to almost retaliate before stopping them, offering peace. The Son questions who she was, and she answers by introducing herself as Lexa, the heir apparent to the Oathbound Kingdom that was conquered by Riven. Lexa tells The Son that the Order of the Nine was nowhere to be found and sought his help in finding out what happened to the Nine. Despite his desire to return to Sophia, The Son nods and instead leaves with Lexa.
