“I know who and what I am, Korin. I'm not Kara or a clone of her like you want and think, I am myself! And that is a fact you cannot change!”
―Heather Mason

Heather Mason was a nigh-perfect genetic clone of Kara In-Ze created by the Order, born from the combined power of the Seal of Metatron and a sample of Kara’s DNA. Stripped of Kara's memories, the clone was adopted by Harry Mason as per Kara's request before her death, who gave her the name Heather and a chance to live a normal life.

For the next four years, Heather happily lived with Harry on his farm, enrolling at the local high school before eventually planning to enroll at Golden Oak University after graduating. However, Heather would be targeted by the Order, who sought to reawaken Kara's memories within her through immense negative emotions, as by doing so would unlock her Argoan powers sealed with her memories in addition to the power Heather unknowingly stripped from the Seal of Metatron during her creation. To that end, the Order killed Harry, fueling Heather with rage and unlocking her powers.

Guided by Douglas Cartland and Kara's apparition for assistance, Heather ventured to the Order's base to confront them for their actions, where she unknowingly helped Korin Zel-Dor restore the Seal of Metatron, which was previously destroyed by Kara. Korin then used the relic on Heather to create another clone for his plans before possessing it himself. Heather fought the Korin-possessed clone in a grueling battle, emerging victorious after empowering herself with positive emotions from her memories of her time living with Harry and the kind life he gave her. Following Korin's defeat and the destruction of the Order, Heather left Maine for college at Golden Oak University, becoming roommates and close friends with Lena Oxton.

Several months later, Heather began to fall under the influence of Metatron, a long-dead Argoan sorcerer that implanted the last of his soul within her own during her birth. Heather became enthralled by Metatron's power, and blindly followed his will until he revealed that he intended to reconstruct his own physical form by harvesting energy from Heather, which would lead to her demise. In a crucial moment to save Lena from Metatron as his physical return drew ever close, Heather made the ultimate sacrifice and used her powers to remove and destroy her own soul, killing Metatron and leaving Heather on the brink of complete physical destabilization.

To ensure Heather survived, Lena made her own sacrifice and convinced Heather's remaining physical essence to fuse with her body and mind, creating a fusion of the two that would go on to live a happy life in Earth-52319 as a student at Midnight City University after being resuced by Sophia.

Biography[]

Creation[]

Birthed as a Clone[]

On August 15th, 2015, a genetic clone of Kara In-Ze was created by the Order in an attempt to birth a being that could harness both the power of the Seal of Metatron and Kara's Argoan powers for their agendas. However, the process was interrupted when Kara was saved by Harry Mason, leaving the clone to take on a slightly different and younger appearance to Kara. Kara managed to escape the Order with Harry and the clone, though Kara suffered great injuries after withstanding a blast caused by her destroying the Seal of Metatron.

Kara managed to get Harry and the clone close to Harry's farmhouse before collapsing. While Harry tended to Kara, the clone began to gain her senses and immediately suffered a mental and emotional breakdown, having inherited Kara's negative memories and emotions. Sensing good in the clone through it all, Kara desired to give the clone a chance to have a normal life, using her powers to strip the clone of Kara's memories.

While the clone went into a dormant state, Kara told Harry to raise the clone like he did with Kara before succumbing to her wounds. Heartbroken, Harry honored her request and brought Kara's body and the clone back to his farm, where he placed the clone in Kara's room and buried Kara outside. Soon after, the clone awoke on Kara's bed, questioning who she was just as Harry re-entered. Harry told the clone that she was his adopted teenage daughter Heather, who smiled before looking out of the window next to the bed to watch the sunrise.[1]

A New Life[]

High School Days[]

Soon after, Harry began taking care of Heather, eventually allowing her to enroll at George W. Stearns High School in the following fall. For the next four years, Heather grew to became a well-respected member of her community, and would often bond with Harry, forging a healthy, happy and loving relationship with her adoptive father. Heather also met Harry's lifelong friend Douglas Cartland, who often visited the two on their farm to chat and sometimes join them for dinner.[1]

Robot Army War[]

On April 10th, 2019, Heather was still in high school when the Robot Army successfully activated Project Manticore, leading to the nigh-extinction of humanity.[2] Due to her nature as an Argoan, Heather was spared from the weapon's effects and hid when the Robot Army began establishing itself as the Robotic Empire, unaware that Harry had died from Scorpion. She later emerged from hiding and reunited with Harry after the Robot Army's efforts were undone by the Reversal power of the Time Blade.[3]

Losing Harry[]

On June 9th, 2019, shortly after graduating high school, Heather experienced a nightmare relating to the Seal of Metatron, having been given this nightmare through her thoughts of leaving Harry for college at Golden Oak University in September. After having breakfast with Harry, Heather later left to go shopping in downtown, where she encountered Douglas. Douglas, having been blackmailed by the Order into doing their bidding, made Heather doubtful of herself and her origins, planting seeds of doubt within her. Heather tried to call Harry to ask him about her past, only to find he wasn't answering her calls.

Heather rushed home to find two members of the Order torturing Harry to death. Overwhelmed by the sight of her father being put through such grueling pain, Heather was overcome by her emotions, which awoke her Argoan powers within her and caused her to don a similar superhero outfit that Kara once wore. Heather used her powers to kill the Order members attacking her father, but was unable to save Harry as he died from his wounds.[1]

Learning the Truth[]

Distraught, an emotionally-shattered Heather went to Kara's grave as instructed by Harry before his death, where she met an apparition of Kara. Kara told Heather of the truth behind her origins, in addition to the Argoan legacy she now possessed. At first, Heather was overwhelmed, asking if she was actually Kara, though Kara reassured her that though she had her memories, Heather was ultimately her own person before fading away.

Heather took some time to lament and contemplate everything, eventually coming to accept all that has happened, thanking Kara for giving her the chance to live a normal life like she did. Douglas then arrived, offering his assistance to help Heather defeat the Order as payment for starting her down her rollercoaster of emotional pain. Initially bitter at him, Heather ultimately sympathized with his plight and forgave him.[1]

Stopping the Order[]

Together, Heather and Douglas ventured to the Order's base, where Heather confronted the Order's leader, Korin Zel-Dor. However, Korin manipulated Heather into unleashing more of her emotional rage by taunting her of Harry's death, causing her to unleash the power of the Seal of Metatron she obtained from the relic during her construction. Korin managed to capture this power with the Seal, restoring the relic to its full power and enabling Korin to begin the process of creating another clone, one he would directly possess to ensure it didn't waver from his plans.

Heather fought Korin, who was beginning to overpower Heather through the combined power of his newfound powered Argoan physiology and the Seal of Metatron's dark magic. Amidst their fight however, Heather was able to slowly but surely counter Korin by using positive emotions derived from her memories of the kind life Harry gave her. Now at her full potential, Heather managed to overpower and defeat Korin before seperating him from the clone's body and destroying his soul, killing him.[1]

College Life[]

Fresh Start[]

With Korin dead and the Order destroyed, Heather was now free to fully embrace her life to the fullest. Heather returned to the farm, where she lived by herself for the next two months until it was time to head to college. With financial help from Douglas, Heather left for school after paying her respects to her deceased father and genetic template, tasking Douglas to look after the farm and thanking him for supporting her.

Arriving at the campus, Heather moved into her dorm, where she met her roommate Lena Oxton, a student from England. Heather bonded with Lena after expressing their shared feelings with leaving behind family for school, echoing the words Harry once told her about the bonds of family being unable to be broken through distance before entrusting Lena with the secret of her true nature as an Argoan.[1]

Project Medusa[]

On January 11th, 2020, Heather witnessed several of her classmates be eliminated by Master Ronin's weapon titled Project Medusa, having once again survived due to her Argoan nature. To her partial relief, Lena had also been spared from the weapon, and the two spent much of time close together in the fallout of the weapon's activation.[4] The effects of the weapon were later undone by the completion of the Ultimate Trial.[5]

Greeting "Abigail Payne"[]

On May 7th, Heather along with Lena walked past Abigail-Ignotus in the cafeteria as she ate her dinner. Heather, believing her to be a reformed Abigail Payne, warmly said hello to Abigail-Ignotus, who smiled and responded with a small wave. Heather then sat down at another table with Lena to have dinner.[6]

Appearance[]

Heather Mason (Uniform) RC

Heather Mason has an appearance that slightly deviates from Kara's; she appears as a caucasian teenage girl with light brown eyes and blonde hair, which, while slightly disheveled and shaggy, is chin-length and layered with side swept bangs covering her right eye. Casually, Heather wears a basic white crop-top shirt with light blue overall shorts. She is typically barefoot, though she does wear white sneakers and socks while at school.

After awakening and subseqeuntly using her Argoan powers, Heather dons a near-identical superhero outfit to that of Kara In-Ze, consisting of a white crop top shirt with black borders at the end of her sleeves, a red cape, white gloves, a blue skirt and red boots. Unlike Kara, who had a red logo of an "S" framed on her shirt with a yellow background, Heather's shirt has a red logo of the Seal of Metatron framed with a white background.

As a student of Golden Oak University, Heather wears the school's uniform. Her version of uniform consists of a navy blue crop top polo shirt with a white border at the ends of the sleeves and the shirt, a matching colored pleated skirt with a white border on the bottom, white socks and navy blue pumps. The school's logo is also sewn onto the shirt.

Personality[]

Heather is a kind, compassionate young woman. Over the years living with Harry, Heather lived a happy life and was a helpful member of her community, never experiencing any real form of emotional pain up until she was pushed over the edge by the Order after they killed Harry. The trauma Heather received from Harry's death and the knowledge of her origins numbed down Heather's joy and overall outlook on life, though it wasn't enough to fully extinguish it and allowed Heather to gain insight on the benefits of cherising the fond memories she made along the way living with Harry.

Even at her lowest lows, Heather was still able to symphathize with Douglas, understanding what he was put through and forgiving him for what he was forced to put Heather through and agreeing that the Order, the true masterminds of their pain, were to be punished. Through her experiences, Heather was able to comfort and sympathize with those also experiencing negativity, as she was able to help Lena with coming to terms with moving away from her family in England to start college in America.

When faced with a difficult situation, Heather will always choose the option to save everyone else and guarantee their safety, no matter the consequences that she would have to face herself. This trait proved to be instrumental in saving Lena from Metatron, as Heather selflessly destroyed her own soul to prevent Metatron from harming Lena and reconstructing himself.
