Kawamura Karu, known as Azami, is the personal bodyguard and enforcer of Nakamura Industries CEO and Tokyo Governor Nakamura Ayato. Described by Ayato as an effective bodyguard, Karu is extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat, talented with knives, and is very vigilant with keen senses and quick responsiveness to threats, and a very dangerous and master marksman.
She is set to appear in the 2024 video game Futuristic Zombies, voiced by Rina Sawayama, whom also provided motion capture for the character, and will reprise the role in 2025's Futuristic Warfare.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
She was born to Kawamura Yuzuru and Kawamura Tsuna on September 6th, 2105 in Nakano, a special ward in Tokyo. She has two older siblings, Tsuya and Takanari. At age 18, she joined the Tokyo Security Agency, a law enforcement organization responsible for policing Tokyo and spent four years serving the people of her hometown. However, she retired after a scandal was uncovered involving the organization's administration and leadership in 2127.
After retirement, she spent the next seven years as a freelancer, working under many organizations as an assassin and CEOs as a bodyguard, and operated from Vancouver, a city within the Corporate Republic. It was during this period of her life that she was mostly utilized as an assassin, becoming known as Azami. She once crossed paths with the Scarlet Reaper and assisted them with a contract, agreeing on a 25/75 split.
Becoming Ayato's Bodyguard[]
In February 2134 while attending a private security and arms industry convention at the Convention Center in Midnight City's Los Angeles District to find potential employers. It was here that she came across Nakamura Ayato who attended to finalize an arms deal with Kendall Ballistics, an arms distributor and modifier. She presented him with summary of her career, history and her skills and accomplishments, and was able to get him to consider her for hire as a bodyguard.
Over two months later, she would be contacted by Ayato from Tokyo and congratulated her on being hired to become his personal bodyguard, a position she gladly accepted. To accommodate her new job, she moved from Vancouver to Tokyo and settled into one of the many luxurious apartment complexes built by Nakamura Industries, and worked on a salary of 100k. Sometime after becoming Ayato's bodyguard, she would request modifications to several weapons she owned and the results of the modifications would become Sakura Petal and Shattered Iris. During Christmas 2134, she was gifted with Avarice by Ayato as a token of good faith, and she'd further forge a good standing friendship with him over the years.
Personal Weapons[]
Kana is a personal modification by Karu herself while Avarice was gifted to her. Sakura Petal and Shattered Iris were modified by Nakamura Industries, based on stock variants from Roberts-West Weapon Systems and Victorian Arms.
