Legacy is an Extinction storyline created by Nakamura Interactive for Call of Duty: Retribution, the third and final game in the Rose Squad Trilogy. Unlike most of the content and story in Call of Duty: Retribution, this storyline takes place in the original Extinction timeline and are referred to as "Legacy Missions" in the game.
The storyline doesn't focus on a single group, but rather on a number of factions and groups. The first two maps of these Legacy Missions focus on the "Point of Contact" period of Extinction with two groups of protagonists; the first being CIF Team Four and the second being American citizens.
The storyline will also feature more groups and factions as playable characters. Call of Duty: Retribution post-launch will feature and introduce more Legacy maps; with the first content update to focus on a squad of US Army soldiers.
Confirmed by Design Director Anakin Nakamura, Morningwood Comics will be adapting the Legacy storyline into comic form, which is meant to include more story elements into the characters.
Gameplay[]
Due to the timeline and setting of the Legacy storyline, all of the futuristic gameplay features such as the Titan-X Specialist abilities and Portable Shields will NOT be available for use in Legacy. Instead, the Legacy Missions will have their own unique gameplay features in each map; with some possibly being carried over.

- The names of CIF Team Four are based on the Call of Duty: Ghosts Extinction -- First Contact trailer. However only Miller and Williams are directly stated in the trailer, with the squad leader being nicknamed "Sarge" and the female member being known as "Jane".
