- “An experimental M4 carbine created by 501st Research Laboratory and Eclipse Industries. Only galactic soldiers wield these weapons.”
- ―In-game description
The M4X1 Assault Rifle, or referred to as M4 Experimental Rifle, also known in the Eclipse Universe as Eclipse M4X1, is a Specialized Weapon Variant of the M4 Carbine appearing in Call of Duty: Awakening of the Hive as an Experimental rarity SWV, and as a Rare SWV in Call of Duty: Extinction.
In the Infection timeline, the M4X1 is an experimental weapon being developed by the 501st Corporation's Research Laboratory in collaboration with Eclipse Industries for the soldiers under the 501st Corporation's security forces, and later their army following the signing as the replacement for the United States Armed Forces.
In the Eclipse Universe, the M4X1 is an assault rifle developed by Eclipse Advanced Weapons for use by the Eclipse Army, Navy, and Special Forces units. Serving such units like Rose Squad.
The weapon's penetration is rated at 1 stud but with its FMJ Round capabilities, it goes up to 3 studs. While having all of its specialized ammo loaded into a single mag, it damage is multiplied by 2.5, giving it high penetration against metal, steel, armour, wall and barriers.
The rifle is equipped with a Vertical Foregrip for increased recoil control, a Tri-Laser Sight with night vision and thermal goggle support, and an experimental Pulse Dot Sight being able to connect directly into the helmet of its user.
Trivia[]
- The in-game description references Eclipse Army soldiers as the M4X1 was used by the Eclipse Military in the Eclipse Warfare series.
- D-pad up enables all three ammo types; D-pad right enables Sabot Rounds; D-pad down enables Armour-Piercing Rounds; D-pad left enables Full Metal Jacket Rounds. On PC, the corresponding Arrow keys allow players to switch the Rounds.
- When switching the Rounds, the player's in-game character changes their magazine while saying "Switching rounds!", which is commonly heard from soldiers of the Eclipse Military.
