Doctor Nathan Daniels was a CIA scientist and the acting head of Project Tenebris. He sought to harness the power of the Cube of Darkness and convert its power for various applications for both military and civilian purposes, though his work would falter when it was revealed he and his colleagues were unknowingly assisting Master Ronin in restoring himself. In the ensuing chaos, Daniels would soon perish by Ronin's hand.

Project Tenebris[]
On December 19th, 2019, Nathan Daniels, a renowned scientist known for his work in supernatural sciences and phenomena, was hired by the CIA to assist with the development of Project Tenebris, an experimental project that sought to harness the raw power of the Cube of Darkness and convert its power into various weaponry and technologies. While experimenting on the cube at the Pentagon labs, Daniels would come into contact with the lingering soul of Master Ronin, who returned to the cube after escaping his confinements in the Dark Realm.
Through Ronin's vast knowledge and advice, Daniels drew up schematics for revolutionary dark-powered armaments that would ensure the United States remained as the dominant global superpower. Despite what Ronin had done for Daniels, the scientist would remain skeptical of the voice's true ambitions, and was strongly against the idea of extracting his soul from the cube and placing it into the nigh-complete robotic body developed for Project Pax.
Fearing that the CIA had made the wrong choice with Project Pax and that the cube would soon become obsolete, Daniels began to draw up plans for a system capable of replicating the cube's power by sampling a single sample from the cube, allowing the CIA to develop a sustainable source of dark energy without the cube should it become unavailable. However, Daniels' fears would become a reality when Ronin betrayed the CIA, slaughtering the staff that worked on both projects.
Daniels attempted to flee, but was confronted personally by Ronin, who mocked the scientist for helping him with the beginnings of his new plan before using the Cube of Darkness to brutally murder Daniels, melting him into a dark goo. Ronin then used the cube to absorb the goo into it before escaping the facility, armed with Daniels' work to use for his upcoming Project Medusa.[1]
