New Elpis is the capital of Paradise Island. A sprawling futuristic paradise, New Elpis represents the world's advanced technological progress. The city also served as the former home city of Techno prior to their relocation to Midnight City.

Background[]

Capital of Paradise Island[]

New Elpis was established as the capital of Paradise Island after the United States officially recognized Paradise Island as one of its overseas territories in 2072. New Elpis remained as the capital even after Paradise Island became its own country and split from the United States after the latter fell along with numerous other major governments across the world during the Fall of the Governments Age in 2085.

After the Mirage Corporation acquired the entire island, New Elpis would serve as the main focuspoint in technological advancements as F-Space Energy was discovered and later introduced to the public. For the next several decades, New Elpis grew to become one of the world's most technologically-advanced cities, only barely surpassing the likes of the massive city-state Midnight City due to Paradise Island being the world's source for F-Space Energy.[1]

Ravaged by the Undead[]

On the morning of August 25th, 2143, New Elpis found itself under siege by a surprise zombie outbreak caused by Blackout, the result of a tampered Mirage Corporation experiment. With most of the Mirage Corporation's forces already having fallen to the undead prior as the outbreak originated from their headquarters, New Elpis was left nearly defenseless as the undead ravaged the city, turning many of its inhabitants into zombies.

Due to the efforts of Techno, a handful of survivors were able to escape the city after being extracted by members of the Atlas Security Service that Techno managed to contact while held out at the Hypercenter Mall. Despite Techno's heroics, hundreds of thousands of lives were ultimately lost to the undead, who remained in control of the city up until the entirety of Earth-52319 was obliterated in an F-Space Energy explosion originating from the Central Vault.[2]
