The Nexus, also known as the Nexus-verse and as Valhalla to humanity and as the Nexus Dimension within the Nine Dimensions, is an interdimensional realm created by The Father with the remainder of his life-force and ultimately sacrificed himself to create it using No Name, a weapon of which belonged to him. Being an interdimensional realm, it connects every timeline and universe in time and space that exist, including alternate timelines and universes.

The way the Nexus works is that once inside of the realm, those inside would need to think of the universe or timeline they want to travel to and the exact date and place from that chosen destination to properly travel to it. However, anything done that alters those universes like changing its history or creating a paradox will begin to slowly destabilize the Nexus; if the Nexus is fully destabilized and crumbles to non-existence, all the universes and timelines connected through the realm will no longer be connected and will cause anomalies within them and, like the Nexus, will eventually destabilize and destroy them.

However there are two ways to prevent this: the first is to close off the Nexus from everything; successfully doing so will disconnect all universes and timelines from each other without any anomalies. But this can only be done by a Nexu, and will confine them within the Nexus, closed off and alone for eternity. The second is to create an Alternate Universe to replace the original; preventing any danger but doing so will erase the original universe including all of those from it, turning them into dust and non-existent, even if they are protected.

Design[]

The Nexus takes on the appearance of an endless void like dimension containing endless amounts of blue intangible clocks, each representing a different universe. When someone wishes to identify which clock their universe is, the appropriate clock would be seen as a golden clock for the viewer. Alternatively, the user also can warp to the clock apparition they want to by thinking of it.

When someone wants to visit a universe, they must first touch the corresponding clock apparition. The realm will then manifest a watery surface below the clock while all of the others clock will disappear from sight. The clock will then manifest itself into a portal, allowing the user to enter through and travel to the desired universe. If a universe the user selected contains multiple timelines within it, the user can pick which one they want to visit, and they will be brought to the desired timeline at the timeline's current point in history. Among the selectable timelines can be rip timelines should they be present in that universe.

"Pursuit of Truth" reveals that time within the Nexus is extremely faster than normal reality. Ignotus spent his time building an entire city within a realm he had created at the heart of the Nexus after he broke the Seal of The Father. In normal reality, this occurred over the course of ten seconds.

Glossary[]

Timeline Loop[]

A Timeline Loop is a mechanism built into the Nexus by the Unique Apparition Heimdall as a failsafe to repair any Universes that were destroyed. Designed in a way that they cannot be created at will, instead when a destroyed Universe is restored, that Universe is not exactly as it was prior to its destruction. Instead, a Timeline Loop takes the place of its Original Timeline and within this Loop, the only history contained within are the events leading up to that Universe's destruction, allowing the Nexus Apparitions or any other party recruited by them to safety observe and locate what caused the destruction and to prevent it from happening. However, because the Loop acts as the Original Timeline, no other history of these events, except preventing the core event that caused the destruction, cannot be changed even in the slightest, as Timeline Loops are fragile and not as stable.

The Earth-52319 Timeline Loop only covers the history starting when Blackout assumes his identity and ends when Earth-52319 is destroyed.

Alternate Timeline[]

Throughout time, the Nexus has been the source for the creation of Alternate Timelines, which stem from the minds of individuals within the billions of Universes that exist. This Alternate Timeline is created from thoughts based on "what if"s or "if that happened"; this gives the possibilities that as time went on, a seemingly infinite amount of Alternate Timelines of various Universes exist. However, another form of an Alternate Timeline exists, this is known as a "rip" timeline which is created directly by events caused within a Universe or an Alternate Timeline orchestrated almost always by an individual within that Universe or Alternate Timeline.

In the Oceania realm, whenever an Alternate Timeline is created, it takes the form of a Red Clock that is situated beside the Original Timeline of that Universe, which represented by a Blue Clock. A "rip" timeline takes the form of an Orange Clock and sits beside whatever Universe or Alternate Timeline it is created from.

Alternate Universe[]

Alternate Universes are much different than Alternate Timelines. Every timeline that exists all link to a Universe. These Universes have an Original Timeline from where Alternate Timelines and "rip" timelines deviate from. Alternate Universes can be created in order to replace a Universe with different history or removing specific elements from it, though the creation of an Alternate Universe requires a complete erasure of the original Universe and its Original Timeline, though this erasure does not effect Alternate Timelines or "rip" timelines. Only those with administrative power can create Alternate Universes and perform the erasure process, these beings include The Son, Nexus Apparitions and the being that currently wields No Name.

In the Oceania realm, a Universe comprises a group of Timeline Clocks with a Blue Clock at the front representing its Original Timeline. Timeline Clocks for Alternate Timelines and "rip" timelines are grouped up together behind this Blue Clock. A Golden Clock represents a being's Home Timeline from where they came and originated from.

Replica Timeline[]

A Replica Timeline is a type of timeline that is created as a replication of a Universe's Original Timeline or any of its Alternate or "rip" Timelines. As a Replica Timeline, any and all events within that Timeline can be changed without any risk of endangering the stability of the Nexus or its Original Timeline. However, Replica Timelines are mostly created in order for The Son or the Nexus Apparitions to take a certain individual or a group of individuals from it and use them for assistance with something, as is the case with Replica Techno after the restoration of the destroyed Earth-52319.

In the Oceania realm, a Replica Timeline takes the form of a Grey Clock that is situated alongside its Original Timeline, Alternate or "rip" Timeline.

Alternate Reality[]

Alternate Realities are much more different than timelines and universes, as a Reality itself exists within its own bubble of existence. The Reality in which the Nine Dimensions exist within is designated "Reality IX", while also co-existing alongside many other Realities. Contact with these other Realities are near-impossible as neither are aware of each other, however if any significant events or disasters happen all at the same time in multiple Realities, the sheer power and force of these can cause a Tear in the fabric of these Realities. Whenever a Tear occurs, memories of an individual within multiple Realities can be passed on to their counterparts, which is the only knowledge these Realities can have of each other, however these are perceived as "visions" or "premonitions" of the future.

Realities can also be seen as Alternate Timelines in a way, the difference between them is that they are not created by the Nexus nor can they be influenced in any way, except for the passing of memories during a Tear. As these Realities differ from each other, those in one Reality are vastly different than their counterpart in another Reality, having taken a much different path and having different goals and desires.

Alternate Realities are called so, as they are seen from the perspective of those in Reality IX.

Realm[]

Realms are alternate dimensions placed in-between the various universes in existence. Because of this, they can be accessed through a myriad of methods, though the easiest way to access a certain realm can be found in the Aether. However, due to the secluded nature of the Aether, this method of accessibility can be found challenging for some.

When a realm is born, it does not have to follow any specific laws of time relating to a universe or timeline bordering a realm. A noteworthy example is the Fractured Realm; despite the fact that the timeline in which it was created at was erased from history, the realm still remained due to the fact that it had already been born once before the timeline was changed, meaning it no longer followed its rules and was free to exist as its own entity.

Temporal Doors[]

Temporal Doors are a form of time travel/displacement portals in the Nexus. These portals allow individuals in the Nexus to travel between universes and timelines, opening these portals using custom-made devices or specially created weapons, such as Samuel Higgins's teleportation devices, Nexus Crystals and the Infinity Gauntlet.

Another form of Temporal Door called Time Displaced Mirrors exist; what makes these different from Temporal Doors is that the Mirrors cannot be created at will and only take form during certain conditions, influenced by extreme instability caused by paradoxes, and their destinations are set to a random time in a universe's or any of its timelines' histories; the destinations of these mirrors lead to these unstable universes. Individuals that go through these Mirrors become "Time Displaced Individuals," though the Nexus Apparitions do not consider them threats and leave them be. Time Displaced Mirrors physically appear as frameless mirrors with their time displaced destination on the other side of its entry point.

Throughout time, billions of individuals utilized their own devices to create these doors to travel between universes and their timelines, most notably in the Roach Chronicles multiverse. A notable case of Time Displaced Mirrors occurred when The Son restored Earth-52319; this is due to the instability caused by the Timeline Loop and the fractures in the Roach Chronicles multiverse, opening several thousands of Time Displaced Mirrors across the Nexus-verse, all leading to Earth-52319's Original Timeline, naturally bypassing the Timeline Loop in place.

Essence[]

An Essence is the core aspect of an individual's Life-Force, without it, they would cease to exist and die. Akin to a soul, it is the spiritual part of every being. In the Original Timeline, all Nexu and Hive had one. After The Father sacrificed himself to create the Nexus, he used half of his remaining Life-Force to create it and combined the other half with his own Essence to grant every being in the Nexus multiverse an Essence as well, giving life. The Essence cannot be exploited, though all Nexu and Hive have the ability of Essence Transfer, an ability that is quite fatal to its caster. This ability allows Nexu and Hive to transfer their own Essence to revive another from death, but will die in the process as they no longer possess one. However, the Hive were able to exploit this ability and developed a darker variant of it, in which they would take away an Essence and destroy it. When an Essence is destroyed by this dark ability, the memories of that individual will scatter into the Nexus void and becomes harder to piece together when trying to view those memories.

Nexu and Hive all know about their Essence while all other beings perceive theirs as a soul, through their own discovery of this aspect. Though, they do not know the true origin of the soul and its original name. The Son has utilized Essence Transfer to save individuals, though because he's always in Host bodies, his Essence does not extinguish and instead his Host's Essence does. This is evident when he transferred Mr. Nakamura's Essence to save Mrs. Nakamura, killing him but reviving her.

Lore[]

In the Original Timeline, there were two species: the militaristic and intelligent Hive, and their politically-aligned peaceful but equally intelligent neighbors the Nexu. Both lived in harmony and tranquility for thousands of years, ushering each other in the advancement of their race and technology. That is until the war-hungry Hive leader Lord Kar'auk had ascended to the throne of the Hive Empire and, after experiencing visions, declared war on their Nexu allies for deception and manipulation of the Hive. A war was fought between the Hive and Nexu; the former being more equipped than the latter. Because of this, the Nexu, naturally, were fated to lose this war, and their leader The Father foresaw this defeat and attempted to escape the dreadful fate with The Son. However, before they could leave, they were attacked and The Father was fatally wounded, but used the last of his Life-Force to create the Nexus, a realm that connected universes and their timelines together. The Son was given a mission to continue on through this Nexus in search of a timeline of their own universe where the Hive were instead defeated, and is bestowed the ability of reincarnation, resonating with like-minded individuals.

As The Son ventured through time to find this timeline, his physical Nexu form was killed off by an adversary and caused him to reincarnate to a like-minded individual, a Host whose memories and personality became his own. As he went through this process for eons, he began losing sight of himself and eventually his knowledge of the Nexus, The Father, the Hive and his Nexu heritage became lost, believing that his ability to reincarnate was a curse set upon him. Eventually, The Son had reincarnated with an individual who subdued him and combined both of their soul's Essence into a single one; The Son became dormant while the individual would become the active conscious. This individual would eventually become known as "Mr. Tachibana", naming himself after a host's wife.

Upon The Son finally losing the last piece of himself from constant reincarnation, a failsafe in the Nexus realm would come into form: the Nexus Apparitions would become the caretakers for the Nexus, guarding its secrets, ensuring the protection of the realm and The Son throughout his journey, until he regains knowledge of his heritage and true place as Ruler of the Nexus.

Access[]

The Nexus can be accessed by everyone and everything that exists in it. However, only The Son, the Nexus Apparitions and any other Nexu have full administrative power within the Nexus realm itself. Many beings who've had ties with The Son through Mr. Tachibana had all been given access whenever the latter brought them into the Nexus realm.

The Angel, being a Nexu, naturally had access to the Nexus but because of her conflict with The Son/Mr. Tachibana, the Nexus Apparitions Odin and Thor revoked her access, believing her intentions were opposite of what they were created to believe of who was and wasn't worthy.

Restrictions[]

Although any being given access can travel to the Nexus void, there are restrictions on what they can and cannot do. Most beings allowed access are able to relive their own memories through memory-based projections but will not be able to make physical contact, as this would create consequences; depending on whose memory it is, these consequences can be dire and dangerous.

The most prominent restriction is changing The Son's history, including history of his Hosts and any history where The Son is present even if that history does not belong to him or his Hosts. Forcibly attempting to do so will cause the Destabilization of the Nexus to begin, which would begin very softly but gradually gain momentum as time goes on. However, this restriction can be bypassed by being deemed worthy by the Eye of The Father that is embedded within No Name.

Known Nexu[]

The Nexu are race of intelligent beings who were prominent in the Original Timeline and lived alongside the Hive, a similar race. Most Nexu had the ability to reincarnate, however The Father's reincarnation ability was unique to himself in that he was able to reincarnate with individuals who were like-minded to him while every other Nexu reincarnated with random hosts.

Realms[]

Void[]

The Void is the primary realm within the Nexus. Its physical appearance is an endless black void with a transparent surface that allows anyone within the realm to walk and move about on their own. Because of its purpose, it was not given any design nor a theme, as The Father believed the realm would be better off without any distinguishing features.

Oceania[]

The Oceania is a realm that comes into form when someone within the Void summons the Clock Doors to enter a universe. The realm's distinguishing feature is the watery surface that forms. This feature was designed specifically by The Father just as he sacrificed himself to create the Nexus.

Verdant Forest[]

The Verdant Forest is a realm created by The Son. The realm mainly served as a training realm with the intent purpose of testing those he has high interest in. Within the realm, many "reflections" of villains within the Nexus exist, and only exist in this realm. This realm is distinguishable for its forest-like design and features, mixing in with large vastly open world.

However when gathering these reflections, The Son and The Drifter were unaware that The Angel was not a reflection but was actually herself. She does not make this known, and when defeated by Rose Squad, she intentionally faked her death. Over time, she slowly corrupted this realm into the Haunted Forest, shaping it in her own image. Though, she would be defeated again but managed to escape.

Currently, the Haunted Forest remains corrupted.

Ignotus' Realm[]

Created by Ignotus himself after ascending as the Ruler of the Nexus, this realm was created at the heart of the Nexus. With the help of Heretic Apparitions, a vast large city was built within the realm to serve as Ignotus' new seat of power.

However, he was eventually defeated by The Son and his companions. This realm no longer exists, as it was erased by The Son with No Name.
