Boss Rush The Final Chapter

“Don't worry about the Apparitions, they're all talk and no bite.”
The Son[src]

The Nexus Apparitions, also known as Norse Gods, are the caretakers of the Nexus. Their existence came to be after the activation of a failsafe placed by The Father in the event that The Son lost all knowledge of the Nexus, his heritage and himself. As the caretakers, the Nexus Apparition watched over the Nexus realm with absolute authority and monitored every single Universe and their Timelines as well as The Son during his time living with hosts.

The Nexus Apparitions refer to themselves in plural third person and never in any other sense. Explained by Thor to a replicated Techno, the reason why Nexus Apparitions don't refer to themselves as one is due to avoiding undermining their purpose in the Nexus.

History[]

Creation[]

After The Son reincarnated into a host and lost the very last bit of knowledge on the Nexus and himself, the falisafe created by The Father had activated and the Nexus Apparitions had been "born." Their knowledge on their existence became known to them as soon as they were "born" and so each knew their duties as caretakers. In addition to their duties, they also held their allegiance to No Name, in a sense that they would "blindly" follow whoever wielded the weapon and execute their will without a thought.

As time went on, the Nexus Apparitions observed the holders of No Name but because none of them were deemed worthy by the Eye of The Father, they could not reveal themselves to these holders at will. However, certain Nexus Apparitions had developed personalities and a will of their own, breaking free from their stern and emotionless state. Those that followed became known as Unique Apparitions.

Norse mythology[]

The Unique Apparitions at one point revealed themselves to ancient North Germanic people and became known as gods, becoming central figures in Norse mythology. The Unique Apparition that became Thor is depicted as a "God of Lightning" with a hammer known as "Mjölnir" as his weapon.

Call of Duty: Nexus Arena[]

In Call of Duty: Nexus Arena, the Nexus Apparitions serve as NPCs, controlling a team of their Apparitions when fighting against the player in the tutorial. The Apparitions will also sometimes give players advice when losing a battle such as recommending different strategies and Characters.

The Final Chapter[]

After Ignotus assumes control of the Nexus, he is able to gain influence over the Nexus Apparitions, turning them into his personal bodyguards for his paradise at the heart of the Nexus.

According to The Apparition of The Father, not every Nexus Apparition was influenced by Ignotus. These Nexus Apparitions continued to resist Ignotus and fight against Nexus Apparitions they once called "brothers". They were also tasked by The Father's Apparition to halt Ignotus' plans and while it did not do much, it gave The Apparition enough time to guide The Son through memories of Mr. Tachibana.

After the events of "Ascendance", every Unique Apparition urged The Son to purge all of the Heretic Apparitions, though he decides against the decision, believing that they were only following whoever wielded No Name. In the time following Ignotus' defeat, every Heretic Apparition slowly reverted back to their original appearance. This decision was later brought up by Thor in Futuristic Redemption, but was told by The Son of what he said to the other Unique Apparitions.

Appearance[]

The Nexus Apparitions appear wearing clerical clothing as well as having their bold dark eye shadows and wearing a form of cross necklaces.

In the Haunted Forest, the Nexus Apparitions take on a much different form; appearing to be more corrupted by The Angel, whom had desired for the Nexus for centuries.

After Ignotus became the new ruler of the Nexus, the Apparitions took on a much different form; their appearance consists of a black armor covered with a dark purple tunic decorated in red markings, with clawed gloves, high-heeled boots and a mask resembling a silver goat hiding their faces. Along with their new appearance, they became known as "Heretic Apparitions" by the Apparitions who were not influenced by Ignotus.

Unique Apparitions[]

Nexus Apparitions are able to develop emotions and personalities that make them unique from their common brethren, these Apparitions become known as "Unique Apparitions." To complement their newfound identities, they alter their appearances to stand out, such as in the case of Thor, Odin, Loki, Heimdall, Sif and Freyja.

After Ignotus ascended as the new Ruler of the Nexus Dimension, almost the entirety of Unique Apparitions refused to accept him as their leader due to their free will and independence, having deeper connections with The Son. Those that followed Ignotus included Loki, Vidar, and Vale. In "Pursuit of Truth," The Father's Apparition reveals he had tasked some Unique Apparitions to disguise themselves as Ignotus' Heretic Apparitions in order to spy on him and keep track of his movements and plans.

  • Lotus

Lotus is a unique Nexus Apparition who appears as a Boss in Boss Rush. His attacks are primarily based around possession. Due to his possession attacks, the only way to damage him is to "down" the player he is currently possessing. Once possessing a player, he inverts their controls and uses their weapons to fire at other players. He'll always make use of anything else the player has in their inventory, such as grenades, secondary weapons and launchers.

Loki is a unique Nexus Apparition who appears as a Boss in Boss Rush. His attacks are primarily based around telekinesis. Unlike Lotus, he does not possess players. As a telekinetic Apparition, he'll summon spiky pillars and toss them at players. Other objects he summons include explosive barrels, flames, impact grenades, bodies and debris.

Loki makes his reappearance in Futuristic Redemption.

Odin is one of the unique Nexus Apparitions. He was introduced in "Pursuit of Truth" and reappears in Futuristic Redemption.

Sif is one of the unique Nexus Apparitions. She was introduced in "Pursuit of Truth" and reappears in Futuristic Redemption.

  • Baldr

Baldr is one of the unique Nexus Apparitions. He was introduced in "Pursuit of Truth". He is also one of the unique Apparition tasked to spy on Ignotus.

Thor is one of the unique Nexus Apparitions. He first appeared in Futuristic Redemption, conversating and assisting The Son with replicated Techno. He is also the only unique Apparition considered to be The Son's second-in-command, thus granting him more administrative power than his fellow brethren.

The Four Apparitions[]

The Four Apparitions are a group of Unique Apparitions chosen by The Son to collectively serve as his second-in-commands, though they are viewed as an advisory council by normal and Unique Apparitions. They hold more administrative power than their fellow Apparitions.

Trivia[]

  • Fred Tatasciore voices all male Nexus Apparitions while Kristen Potter voices all female Nexus Apparitions.
  • Originally, the Nexus Apparitions were meant to serve as followers or "Acolytes" of the Hive Emperor from the Father's Original Timeline, who had discovered the Nexus and were ordered to seize control of it. This idea, however, was scrapped.
  • In the fourth scene for "Pursuit of Truth", it is revealed that the Nexus Apparitions had shown themselves to ancient North Germanic people who had called them "Norse Gods", becoming central figures in Norse mythology.
