“Because he wields No Name, his power is limitless.”
―The Apparition

No Name, originally named Potens Virgam, is a mystical weapon created by The Father. Forged from the Eye of The Father, it was utilized to create the Nexus at the cost of The Father's existence. After The Son lost his memories, No Name was passed down throughout histories across the Nexus, allowing The Father to see the future play out from the past. Eventually, No Name ended up in the hands of the Grandmaster in Earth-61017, who died before he could pass No Name on to a new successor.

Due to this disruption of succession, No Name was sent back to the Nexus, where it soon fell into the possession of Ignotus, an alternate version of Xarcoh hailing from a rip timeline. Ignotus used No Name to become aware of his original fate as Xarcoh, opting to instead abandon that destiny in favor of creating his own. Ignotus' plans led him to take full control of the Nexus by breaking the Seal of the Nexus, though he was ultimately defeated by The Son, who successfully reclaimed both No Name and his lost memories.

With No Name in his possession, The Son used it to restore Earth-52319 by using an altered Timeline Loop adjusted by replicas of Techno's Inner Circle as a new universal foundation. The Son managed to find and retrieve his long lost daughter Sophia from the restored universe, though their reunion was cut short after The Angel destroyed his physical form. Despite this, The Son sent No Name back to the Four Apparitions to bestow the weapon to Sophia, who became the Nexus Ruler in The Son's absence.

Background[]

Early History[]

At its creation, the weapon that became known as No Name was first known as Potens Virgam. A Nexu named The Father had created the weapon to better channel his divine powers but found that the weapon could not do so. In order to achieve his goal, he needed to embedded a piece of himself so that it could achieve what he wanted and took his own right eye, placing it in the head of the weapon. Doing this not only allowed him to control his power but to be able to see through The Eye by closing his own remaining left eye. It was also given the title of "Magna Virtus." Pairing this with his knowledge, he was able to fight against the Hive Empire in the Original Timeline and granted his own people more better weapons and gave his personal guards weapons, which only one survived the war.

Potens Virgam was eventually given to The Son after The Father had suffered a fatal blow due to an arrow shot by a Hive warrior. He used most of its power along with the rest of his dying Life-Force to create the Nexus and died immediately after. He also used the weapon to create a Seal of the Nexus to protect the Nexus from change, left an Apparition of himself to guide The Son whenever he needed it, and created the failsafe that would allow the Nexus Apparitions to come into being. When The Son became the new owner, he was given The Father's powers and abilities, including his ability of foresight, though he would make little use of it as he liked unpredictable situations. As he continued his journey throughout time, he reincarnated at least a billion or more times and eventually Potens Virgam fell out of his possession, having bestowed it to an unknown individual prior to losing his memories.

During the time that Potens Virgam had been passed down from owner to owner, its original name would eventually be forgotten until a man gave it the name "No Name," which future owners would call it. Through this proper passing of the weapon, it would allow The Father to foresee the span of time in which No Name was successfully passed on while he remained in the past. Before long, a young man in Delphi, Greece was bestowed No Name by his father, who had given the weapon to his son to build confidence in his future. Gazing into The Father's Eye, the young man learned of his immediate future within the next few years, much to his surprise. In time however, the young man, now known as the Grandmaster, soon came to learn of Prima Materia, and after being deemed unworthy by it, he was soon cursed by it, becoming frozen in time within the city of Delphi for thousands of years, taking No Name with him.

Boss Rush[]

After being freed from his imprisonment within the artificial Sentinel Trial binding him to Delphi, the Grandmaster challenged the heroes to a final battle in order to prove himself worthy of harnessing the remaining Prima Materia left in the world. The Grandmaster then summons No Name to use in combat prior to engaging the heroes.

After being defeated, the Grandmaster drops No Name onto the ground, which soon fades away shortly after the Grandmaster does.

The Final Chapter[]

As a result of the Grandmaster's failure to pass on No Name prior to his death, The Father was now unable to foresee beyond that moment in time. Without an owner, No Name was pulled back into the Nexus, where it would be discovered by a rip timeline version of Xarcoh that came into existence through a temporal paradox caused by the Arc 3 universe's destruction. Upon accidentally gazing into its eye, Xarcoh learned of what his original future was meant to be, allowing him to diverge from his intended path in search of a new one, which he believed was out of destiny's reach.

Seeking to harness the powers in which No Name originated from, Xarcoh used No Name's foresight to seek out a potential answer to assume control over the Nexus. Learning of the Seal of the Nexus and The Father's attempt to ensure it would never be broken, Xarcoh learned that he could bypass it using Dark Creation, which The Father had assumed was fully safe in the protection of Roach and his Harbinger due to his inability to foresee past the events of Boss Rush. With that, Xarcoh abandoned his original name, changing it to Ignotus before embarking on a mission to steal Roach's Harbinger.

Venturing to the Graveyard of the Ancients in his rip timeline, Ignotus used No Name to manifest a large stone labyrinthine spanning across the graveyard to serve as an obstacle for the heroes he would draw to him through various Unversed attacks across the Nexus. Not long after, Ignotus would be confronted by Umbra Ops and The Son, who was undergoing his Mr. Tachibana identity at the time. Ignotus revealed No Name and his newfound connection with it to them, sparking shock amongst them as they recognized it as the Grandmaster's weapon prior. Later on after the heroes defeat the Iron Imprisoner at the end of the labyrinthine, Ignotus successfully steals Roach's Harbinger while he is distracted and tired from the battle; using its powers, Ignotus uses it to unlock the Seal of the Nexus, having revealed it using the graveyard's mysterious powers.

Having unlocked the seal, Ignotus ascended into the Nexus through it as the dominion's new owner, generating a realm within its heart to serve as his base of operations. However, the heroes remained undeterred, and ventured into the Nexus after The Son reclaimed his true identity and lost memories through guidance by The Father's failsafe apparition. After a fierce final battle against the heroes atop his citadel, during which the Harbinger was destroyed, Ignotus summoned No Name in an desperate attempt to prevent an attack on him from The Son. Ignotus' attempt would be in vain however, as The Son used his power to shatter Ignotus' synthezoid body after dodging his attack, seemingly destroying Ignotus once and for all. From Ignotus' remains, The Son reclaimed No Name, and used it to erase Ignotus' influence within the Nexus. After Umbra Ops returned back to their universe, The Son used No Name to begin repairing the Arc 3 universe, having sensed Sophia's presence from within its ruined gateway.

Futuristic Redemption[]

The Son wielded No Name in combat against the Neon Raiders and the Forsaken in an attempt to protect his daughter and her allies. The Son later used No Name to fight against The Angel, though she proved to be too much for him to handle. To keep it out of The Angel's clutches, The Son imprinted her scent on the weapon to alert the Nexus Apparitions of her intrusion in the Nexus and used the last of his strength to send it to Sophia before his physical body was destroyed by The Angel. No Name succeeded in making its way into Sophia's hands, who inherited the weapon.

Futuristic Arrival[]

Due to Ignotus' lasting impact on her, Abigail-Ignotus briefly saw a vision of No Name while inspecting Misery's End.

Alone Together[]

Sophia wielded No Name in her offhand while she rescued the fusion of Heather Mason and Lena Oxton from a fire.

Futuristic Twilight[]

During the Battle of the Central Vault, Sophia used No Name in her one-on-one battle against The Dealer, the impure reincarnation of her father's Rogue Mr. Tachibana clone.

Design[]

No Name has a spiky, black guard resembling demonic wings, a horned, demonic head just above the handle, two barbed shafts, and teeth resembling a battle axe split into three almost claw-like protrusions. Its shaft and head are adorned with several twisting, silver patterns. It also contains two demonic blue eyes, one located on the head of the weapon while the other is found on a chain below the handle. It is later revealed in The Final Chapter that the eye on the head of the weapon is the Eye of The Father.

Trivia[]

  • Like the Harbinger and Key of Union, No Name is a Keyblade that originates from the Kingdom Hearts series.
