The Omega Key is an ancient relic of unknown origins with mysterious ties to various Aetherian technologies such as the MPD.
Background[]
At some point in time, the Omega Key was forged, possessing the ability to transfer souls between various locations once powered by a source of Aetherian energy. The key would end up being sealed away in an icy cavern in the Torngat Mountains in Canada, which wasn't discovered even when a private military base was established nearby the cave's entrance.
The myth of the Omega Key would later become a subject of Doctor Samuel Higgins' research, who sought to one day obtain the relic upon deciphering clues relating to the key's potential whereabouts. Sensing danger would follow should the key be recovered and fall into the wrong hands, Higgins created Bunker 391, a secret doomsday bunker in order to prepare for the worst.

While at his underground research lab in his hometown of Green Mountain in Colorado, Higgins was confronted by Edward Richtofen, who once originated from their current reality, Earth-31218, but ended up becoming imprisoned in the Cursed Realm. Richtofen soon revealed his intentions to capture the doctor and his research in order to uncover the location of the Omega Key for his master plan. After a brief fight, Richtofen imprisoned Higgins in the Soul Jar and proceeded to decipher Higgins' research. After reading his notes and combining it with his own research, Richtofen discovered the Omega Key's coordinates before informing his contact of its whereabouts.
The Omega Key[]
At the Torngat Mountains, Novus are successful in locating the Omega Key. However, "The Unknown" soon betrayed the others and revealed himself to be Xarcoh, the Soulless of Roach, who was able to develop a soul of his own before his apparent demise and obtain a new physical form thanks to the dark magic of the Yin Blade. Xarcoh soon rejoined Richtofen with the Omega Key in hand as the latter pushed the now released Higgins toward the others. Xarcoh soon knocked the four unconscious with his powers, allowing them to be captured and brought to Richtofen's safehouse in Brazil sometime later.
Shaded Truths[]
The Omega Key can be seen in Xarcoh's hand while he escaped with Richtofen to the Moon, the site of where they would tear open a stable rift to the Fractured Realm with the Yin Blade and release Gruntijackal.
The Rebirth[]
After Richtofen and Xarcoh are successful in freeing Gruntijackal from the Fractured Realm, the trio proceeded to the Chamber of Repose within the Moon base, which contained the MPD within it. After Richtofen preserved Gruntijackal's soul within the Soul Jar, Xarcoh inserted the Omega Key into the Soul Jar, allowing Gruntijackal to transfer his soul into the key. Richtofen soon removed it from the Soul Jar and prepared to insert it into the MPD, though the villains were confronted by Novus. The four tried vainly to plea with Richtofen and convince him to stop his plans, but he ignored them and inserted the Omega Key into the MPD's interface, allowing Gruntijackal's soul to enter the MPD and possess Samantha Maxis' dormant body.
After Novus are able to weaken Gruntijackal by destroying the four soul tubes around the MPD, they attempt to remove the Omega Key from the MPD, but it had become stuck. In a last-ditch attempt to end it all, Higgins opened the metal canopy above the MPD and shot the chains holding the MPD down, causing the device to be hurled into space. As a result, the Omega Key was lost in space with the MPD and Gruntijackal, and later the Soul Jar, which now contained Richtofen and Xarcoh.
The Final Chapter[]
Chain of Memories[]
As a result of the destruction of Earth-52319, several temporal anomalies began to manifest around the Roach Chronicles multiverse. During this time, the MPD of Earth-31218, which still had the Omega Key jammed within it, was brought to Earth-61017, where it was dislodged from the device upon impact. Not long after, the two artifacts would be brought to the Museum of Unnatural History, though the Omega Key would remain in storage until it was decided what to do with it.
During the grand opening of the museum, Ignotus' soul, which was forced to escape from the Nexus after his ultimate defeat, abruptly arrived through a rift in the sky above the museum and entered the MPD, releasing a surge of energy that caused a zombie outbreak at the museum. Using the opportunity to acquire a new vessel for his soul, Ignotus manipulated four survivors into locating the Omega Key from the museum's storage room and powering it up with the souls of the undead. After completing this task, Ignotus tricked Abigail Payne into inserting the Omega Key into the MPD, allowing Ignotus to take advantage of the situation and possess the young woman's body. Once the deed was done, the Omega Key was once again left within the MPD.
