Abigail-Ignotus is the joint reincarnation of Ignotus and Abigail Payne's souls, both completely reset into a singular, newborn soul and possessing the latter's body. Abigail-Ignotus was temporarily possessed by Ignotus' lingering willpower when she was born, forcing her to murder the survivors of the Museum of Unnatural History outbreak and assume the identity of Abigail Payne for herself. Once the last of Ignotus' willpower finally faded to complete her soul, Abigail-Ignotus developed into an entirely new person, harboring no influence from the components that made her, though she remained traumatized by the memories she retained of Ignotus' possession and the actions he made her do.

After two months of living as a normal college student at Golden Oak University and struggling with both her mental trauma and the cosmic powers she retained from Ignotus, Abigail-Ignotus found herself being transported to Earth-52319 after coming into contact with a Time Displaced Mirror. There, she met Roxanne "Rox" Summers, who she saved from two mercenaries of the Forsaken belonging to Isabelle "Siren" Lakewood. The two would form a close friendship as Rox took her under her wing and brought Abigail-Ignotus with her to Midnight City to meet the rest of Techno. Abigail-Ignotus became the operative Soteria and joined forces with Techno to help protect Rox and take down Siren.

Over time, Abigail-Ignotus and Rox both began to develop deeper feelings for one another, and after Abigail-Ignotus resolved her trauma with Rox's support and encouragement, the two started a romantic relationship. Now fully content with herself, Abigail-Ignotus bravely fought alongside Techno as they finally stopped Siren and her plans at her headquarters in Neon City. Afterward, Abigail-Ignotus became an official member of Techno and a permanent resident of Earth-52319, legally adopting the name Paige Bishop for herself as she happily embraced her new life. Paige became Rox's second-in-command of Techno's Recon Agents, and later married her in 2144.

Biography[]

Origins[]

A New Incarnation[]

On March 1st, 2020, during the zombie outbreak at the Museum of Unnatural History, the voice of Ignotus managed to lure Abigail Payne, one of the four survivors of the outbreak, to the MPD he was trapped in once she had the Omega Key. There, Ignotus manipulated Abigail into opening the device with the key, allowing him to send his soul through the key and into Abigail's body. Internally, Ignotus' soul forcefully fused with Abigail's in an attempt to seize control of her body for himself. The forced unison of their two souls however caused a major internal struggle, which led their combined soul to begin a process to purge the two conflicting wills within it to create a new, pure one.

However, while Abigail's will was almost instantly wiped out by the purge, Ignotus' will was strong enough to temporarily outlast it and have complete control over Abigail's body. Ignotus knew that he would soon disappear to the purge, and began to take measures to ensure that his new incarnation would be given a chance to escape the museum and begin a new life unimpeded. This new incarnation, dubbed Abigail-Ignotus, immediately began to develop her own consciousness as the purge inside new soul continued and she became aware of her surroundings, although she was unable to control her new body while Ignotus' lingering willpower was present.

With no control over her physical actions, Abigail-Ignotus helplessly watched as Ignotus used her body to murder Jane Samson, Marcus Hudson and Theodore Hudson, the other three survivors of the outbreak and the only ones who posed an immediate threat to Ignotus' plan. Ignotus then destroyed all evidence pointing to Abigail-Ignotus' presence at the museum, removing any possibilities of the police tracing it back to her. For the final part of his plan, Ignotus ventured to Golden Oak University where Abigail and Jane came from, where he stole Abigail's identity and forced it upon Abigail-Ignotus to live out her new life as Abigail Payne.[1]

Beginning Anew[]

Before long, Ignotus' will was completely wiped, allowing Abigail-Ignotus to have control over her body for the first time. Due to the circumstances forced upon her by Ignotus, Abigail-Ignotus was forced to keep Abigail Payne's identity. Nevertheless, Abigail-Ignotus made the most of it and began living as an honest and hardworking student over the course of the next couple of months, enjoying her new school life while simultaneously passing off as the original Abigail that was believed to have reformed. Abigail-Ignotus' new approach to Abigail's lifestyle also allowed her to make friends such as Heather Mason and Lena Oxton, something the original Abigail never did due to her isolated and distant nature.

In spite of her good, Abigail-Ignotus had developed post-traumatic stress disorder from the memories of when Ignotus controlled her and what he did to get her where she was now. As a result, Abigail-Ignotus slowly began to view herself as a monster over time, believing she didn't deserve the life she made for herself. Her stress also allowed the cosmic powers she inherited from Ignotus to sometimes surface, forcing her to hide them from others and further scaring her while seemingly proving her point. Despite this, Abigail-Ignotus carried on with her life, doing everything she could to maintain her good intentions while not being consumed by her trauma.[2]

Forging a New Life[]

Displacement[]

On May 7th, Abigail-Ignotus was eating dinner in the college's mess hall at a table by herself. While she ate, Heather and Lena passed by and warmly greeted her, and although Abigail-Ignotus reciprocated the gesture, she couldn't stay content as her anxiety began to act up from her memories of the museum massacre. Abigail-Ignotus then noticed her hand was glowing with energy again and quickly excused herself before anyone noticed the phenomena.

Outside, Abigail-Ignotus found a secluded area away from anyone, where she openly vented to herself about her predicament. Just then, a Time Displaced Mirror manifested in front of her, which she cautiously approached. However, her powers suddenly acted up and affected the portal, which began to pull her into it. Abigail-Ignotus was powerless to escape its grasp as she was engulfed by the portal, which closed behind her.[2]

Meeting Roxanne Summers[]

The portal transported Abigail-Ignotus to Earth-52319, where she was ejected onto a sidewalk in the streets of New Elpis on November 12th, 2143. Abigail-Ignotus regained her senses as the portal dispersed behind her, where she caught a glimpse of the futuristic city around her for the first time. At that moment, Abigail-Ignotus was approached by Roxanne "Rox" Summers, who asked if she was alright after witnessing her arrival while moving stuff from her apartment to her hovercar; Rox's presence immediately caught Abigail-Ignotus' attention. After a moment of staring, Abigail-Ignotus snapped back to reality and questioned where she was after getting up with Rox's help. Rox explained that she was in New Elpis, the capital of Paradise Island, remarking that she must not be from around the area. Abigail-Ignotus affirmed her inquiry, saying that from where she came from, there was no such place as Paradise Island, let alone a city with such technological advancements and marvels, ending her sentence as she looked at Rox, who blushed at her remark.

Before the two could continue their conversation, they were approached by Delta and Joker, two mercenaries who had just exited a nearby van. Rox asked if there was anything she could help them with, but before she could continue, Joker commented that Siren sent her regards and pulled out a pistol, intending to take her life. Abigail-Ignotus immediately caught wind of the situation and swatted the pistol out of Joker's hand with great force before he could react, much to everyone's surprise. Abigail-Ignotus then fought Joker while Rox fought Delta, though Abigail-Ignotus held back from killing Joker after beating him severely, opting to instead knock him unconscious after being reminded of Ignotus' attacks on the museum massacre survivors. After Rox knocked out Delta, she commented on Abigail-Ignotus' exceptional skills and expressed her gratitude for her heroics. At Abigail-Ignotus' suggestion, the two girls made their escape, using Rox's hovercar to flee after Rox stole a radio from Delta.

Rox drove Abigail-Ignotus through New Elpis, who marveled at the sights of the city when Rox then asked for her name, commenting that she never got to ask. Abigail-Ignotus paused for a moment before stating that her name was Abigail Payne. Rox smiled and introduced herself to Abigail-Ignotus while holding out her free hand for a handshake, warmly saying it was nice to meet her. Abigail-Ignotus concurred before shaking Rox's free hand, while both blushed at one another when they weren't looking at each other. Rox then called her superior Tomiko "Vendetta" Hayashi to inform him of the situation regarding Siren's mercenaries, remarking that she was bringing a new friend with her to Midnight City, something Abigail-Ignotus smiled at upon hearing. Abigail-Ignotus thanked Rox for taking her in after Rox disconnected the call; Rox commented that it was nothing, noting she had a feeling that she wanted to come along regardless. Together, the two took an all-day drive to Midnight City from New Elpis, allowing Abigail-Ignotus to take in more sights of the new universe she found herself in. The two later stopped at a hotel for the night.[2]

Arrival at Midnight City[]

The following morning, Abigail-Ignotus and Rox arrived at Techno Tower in the Los Angeles District of Midnight City. Together, the two worked to bring Rox's stuff to her suite in the tower. While the two did this, Abigail-Ignotus was informed of much of the universe's recent history through Rox, such as Techno itself and its acquisition by Atlas International. Once Rox was moved in, Rox offered Abigail-Ignotus the spare bedroom in her suite for her to have, which she gratefully accepted.

At that moment, the two were contacted by Victor "Stratus" Payton via a hologram call. Rox introduced Abigail-Ignotus to Stratus, who expressed his gratitude to Abigail-Ignotus for keeping Rox safe from Siren's men. Stratus informed Rox that the rest of the Inner Circle Heads were gathering in the nerve center for a meeting regarding recent events and advised she bring Abigail-Ignotus with her. Rox agreed and ended the call before leading Abigail-Ignotus back to the elevator to head down to the nerve center level.[2]

Becoming Soteria[]

At the nerve center's briefing room, Abigail-Ignotus was formally introduced to the other Inner Circle Heads of Techno, with Vendetta expressing his utmost respect for Abigail-Ignotus for her actions to protect Rox from Siren. Abigail-Ignotus questioned who Siren was, and soon learned that Siren was a former Techno leader who was terminated from the group after an attempt to do harm to Rox. Noting Rox's reaction to being reminded of the event, Abigail-Ignotus remarked that they need to take action against Siren before any more harm could be done, which Jennifer "Vega" Reese agreed with, though without any information, they had no where to start.

Rox then unveiled the radio she took from Delta, giving Stratus an idea. The group then watched as Stratus tinkered with the radio and revealed that he planned on utilizing the frequencies sent between the radio they had and the one it was broadcasting to to visually pinpoint the location of the other radio on the overhead screen. Stratus used a voice modulator to mimic Delta's voice and spoke into the radio, revealing that the other radio was located in an abandoned warehouse in the district outskirts after Ketch, one of Siren's loyalists, answered Stratus. With a lead to Siren, Vendetta asked on Rox's behalf if Abigail-Ignotus wanted to join Techno on their mission to the warehouse despite not being an official member of the team, which Abigail-Ignotus accepted.

To prepare for the mission, Stratus took Abigail-Ignotus to his workshop to generate her very own Techno outfit. Stratus noted Abigail-Ignotus and Rox's close relationship and asked if she liked Rox, catching Abigail-Ignotus completely off-guard. Though hestitant to answer at first, Abigail-Ignotus confirmed that she did have feelings for Rox, but was uncertain if Rox would accept them. Stratus reassured her that Rox would indeed, suspecting that she also reciprocated the same feelings for Abigail-Ignotus, causing the latter to blush. Stratus then instructed Abigail-Ignotus to stand on a nearby pad, which generated her Techno outfit over her current attire, much to her astonishment.

Stratus explained that, as a Techno operative, Abigail-Ignotus would use a callsign of her choice to operate by. Pondering for a moment, Abigail-Ignotus decided upon the callsign "Soteria", derived from the Greek goddess Soteria whose name roughly translated to salvation. With her outfit generated and her callsign selected, Soteria exited Stratus' workshop to reintroduce herself to everyone else, receiving positive feedback. Vendetta instructed Soteria to follow him to the nearby armory to receive her Techno weapon, where she stumbled upon an energy sword schema that reminded her of the Harbinger and No Name. Vendetta explained it capabilities to her, and Soteria concluded that it would be perfect for her and had it constructed.

Soteria and Vendetta returned to the briefing room, where the others had formulated a plan to infiltrate the warehouse; Soteria, Rox and Vendetta would stealthily clear a path to the warehouse entrance, allowing Vega and Stratus to arrive in their van with additional supplies for a full-out assault inside the building to corner Ketch and obtain any information he had regarding Siren's full operation. Vendetta gave his approval for the operation and prepared to file a mission report to his superior Melissa Anders for her approval. Vendetta then requested to see what Soteria was capable of in battle, who then partook in a combat simulation to show off her skills and abilities.[2]

Raid of the Forsaken Warehouse[]

Twelve hours later, the mission to raid the warehouse was approved by Anders, and Techno promptly deployed to the site. Soteria, Rox and Vendetta arrived on an adjacent rooftop overlooking the warehouse and its surrounding area to gather intel regarding patrol patterns from the security patrols guarding the perimeter. While Rox and Techno were preoccupied, Soteria's powers briefly manifested in her hand, though she managed to quell them before they noticed. Soteria lamented to herself that sooner or later she would have to tell Techno of her origins, though she remained wary of what Rox would think of her.

Stratus then contacted the trio, requesting any information regarding the patrols they acquired. Vendetta soon uploaded the intel he gathered with his helmet to Stratus, who plotted out a path that would take out all the guards in a stealthy manner. Using Rox's nano grasp ability, Soteria and Rox both descended down the side of the building while Vendetta provided overwatch using his rifle. Spotting a lone guard, Soteria was given the chance to test out her sword's capabilities in the field, using the sword's energy to incapacitate the guard without alerting the others.

Soteria and Rox quietlty moved forward toward the warehouse, taking out the remaining guards in their path, including the security head Gerlock. Vendetta then joined Soteria and Rox using his grappling hook after the coast was clear, and together the three awaited the arrival of Vega and Stratus in the Techno van. Once the van arrived, the team retrieved a set of door wedges from the back, using them to jam the other warehouse entry points they weren't going to breach. The team then stacked up on the door they were going to breach from and soon pushed inside, fighting off several guards within the warehouse.

After a quick battle, Techno was able to neutralize all of the guards within the warehouse without triggering any external alarms, leaving Ketch as the only one left. Soteria led a breach into Ketch's office, where she was quickly attacked by him. In a moment of panic, Soteria accidentally triggered her powers in front of everyone and used them to send Ketch flying through a wall, rendering him unconscious upon impact. Horrified by what she had done, Soteria broke down and quickly fled the room, leaving the others both confused and astonished by what she had achieved.[2]

Revealing the Truth[]

Soteria ran outside and collapsed onto the ground, where she sat against the side of the warehouse and began crying into her legs profusely. Shortly after, Rox came outside to find Soteria in her current state and asked what was wrong. Though she initially struggled to answer, Soteria composed herself enough to explain her true origins to Rox and revealed the circumstances of her birth and the actions she was forced to perform while under Ignotus' possession. Soteria told Rox that, while she tried to live a life of good, she was nothing more than a monster in her own eyes, though Rox reassured her otherwise.

Knowing that Soteria had no reason to lie about anything of her past, Rox comforted Soteria and explained that she couldn't take the blame for Ignotus' actions. Rox used the opportunity to reveal that she was once in a similar situation where she felt responsible for someone else's actions, something Soteria correctly guessed was something regarding Siren. Rox lamented that she believed she was solely responsible for Siren's fall to darkness, though with reassurance from everyone else, Rox finally accepted that Siren's outburst and rage was something she did to herself.

Rox explained that Soteria was now in the same position she once was, remarking that there were plenty of people who care for her and were willing to help her alleviate her troubles. Soteria finally began to calm down, and Rox told her that she was ultimately her own person, one who sought to help others above all else. Soteria profusely thanked Rox for understanding and accepting her, and Rox questioned if she was ready to move on. Soteria agreed, and Rox helped her up from the ground in the exact same manner as when they first met in New Elpis.

Soteria and Rox both locked eyes, and Soteria attempted to say something to Rox. Rox however already knew what she was about to say, and responded that she loved her too. Soteria immediately burst into tears of joy and lovingly kissed Rox. After taking more time to cool down, Soteria returned to Ketch's office with Rox, where the other Techno members were hard at work extracting intel from Ketch's computer regarding Siren and her operations. The others quickly deduced Soteria and Rox's relationship by observing their body language, and congratulated the two on their achievement.

Once all of the intel they needed was obtained, Techno promptly left the site to return to Techno Tower, though not before Soteria revealed her origins to the rest of the team. Like Rox had explained would happen, the team accepted Soteria and helped reassure her that everything was going to be alright, finally giving Soteria the closure she needed.[2]

Respite at Techno Tower[]

Soteria joined the other Inner Circle Heads back at the Techno Tower briefing room, where they all skimmed through the intel recovered from the warehouse. The team learned that Siren was in command of a private group called the Forsaken and was being paid by an undisclosed benefactor to actively hunt down Techno and its members. Upon discovering that Siren was based out of Neon City, the team drew up a plan to infiltrate Siren's headquarters to either kill or capture her. Vendetta ordered everyone to return to their rooms for the night while he and Stratus sought clearance from Anders to move on Siren, as Anders needed to first sort out a deal with Konstantin Köhler, a chairman on the 501st Council, for Techno to operate in Neon City.

Later that night, Soteria restlessly laid in her bed when Rox asked if she could come in to her room, which Soteria approved. Rox entered and revealed that she was just informed that Anders and Köhler worked out a deal and Techno would move on Siren in the morning. Rox noted Soteria's restless state and asked if everything was alright, questioning if it was about telling everyone about her origins. Soteria denied that that was the problem, but revealed it was Siren's hatred for Rox that worried her. Rox sat down on Soteria's bed as she tried to explain her past relationship with Siren, but was unable to talk without becoming miffed about the whole ordeal.

Soteria reminded Rox that she wasn't responsible for Siren's fall from grace and openly theorized that Siren at one point tried to move on from everything like the others had hoped, but was ultimately swayed by the contact she now worked for to continue her senseless desire for revenge. Soteried suggested to Rox that they should at least try to get Siren to listen to them before anything else happened and stated that it would be the right thing to do, which Rox agreed with. Rox thanked Soteria and prepared to leave for her room, though she was stopped by Soteria, who awkwardly asked if she wanted to bunk with her for the night to help sleep better. Rox accepted Soteria's invitation, and soon joined her in bed for the night.[2]

Infiltration of Forsaken Headquarters[]

The following morning, Soteria and the rest of the Inner Circle Heads ventured to the Border District of Neon City, where Siren's base, Forsaken Headquarters, was located. After Stratus hacked into the building's power grid and disabled several key systems, the team utilized ascenders to scale the side of the building using Vendetta's grappling hook. The team however was soon spotted by two guards after reaching the top of the line, and although Vega managed to neutralize them, one of the guards had turned on his radio fast enough to broadcast the feed of Vega's gunfire to another guard elsewhere in the building. With time running out before the whole building knew they were there, the team sprinted up the nearby stairwell to ascend the remaining two floors until they reached the long corridor leading to Siren's office, where Echo, Siren's bodyguard, was waiting for them. Echo revealed to the team that he was the one who was informed of their intrusion, and announced he would kill them himself. Echo materialized his juggernaut suit and began to open fire on the team with his light machine gun, who all took cover from Echo's assault.

From cover, Soteria managed to take note of Echo's suit, noticing his relatively small helmet visor and exposed powercells on his back. Vega asked if anyone had a plan to deal with Echo, to which Soteria responded that she had one. Soteria asked Vendetta to start taking shots at Echo with his rifle, who complied with her request and began to return fire. Soteria then asked Stratus and Vega to create a smokescreen for Vendetta using anything they had in their kits, allowing Vendetta to switch to his thermal view to take better shots at Echo, who was now unable to see Techno through the smoke. Finally, as Vendetta's shots started to greatly impact Echo's performance, Soteria asked Rox to help give her a boost to wallrun alongside Echo using her nano grasp. Rox complied, and after Soteria sent out an energy slash to briefly stun Echo, the two held their hands and ran across the side of the wall next to Echo, landing behind him. Before Echo could do anything, Soteria sent out one final energy slash aimed directly at the powercells on his back, which caused his suit to overload and sent out a powerful shockwave that caused parts of the ceiling to collapse, crushing Echo to death.

Due to the debris, Soteria and Rox were now cut off from the rest of the team. With time running out, Vendetta ordered Rox and Soteria to continue the mission while he worked to clear the debris with Vega and Stratus. Soteria and Rox complied with his order, and together the two kicked in the doors leading into Siren's office, where they found Siren waiting for them. Siren coldly greeted Rox, and although Rox tried to reason with Siren like she and Soteria previously planned, Siren remained too stubborn to listen. Soteria gave her piece of mind to Siren and tried to explain that whoever her contractor was was the one pulling the strings, though Siren, who was visibly conflicted from Soteria's explanation, remained blinded by her stirred emotions and prepared to fight the two using her custom rapier and shield combo. Soteria and Rox valiantly fought Siren, who managed to destroy Rox's pistols and remained on par with Soteria's own sword proficiency. Soteria and Rox managed to get Siren into a defensive position, though Siren managed to break out of it and utilized her suit's capabilities to send out a shockwave that separated her attackers from each other.

Soteria managed to quickly recover from the shockwave and watched as Siren prepared to execute Rox with her rapier. Filled with determination, Soteria willingly activated her powers for the first time and called out for Siren, who turned to face her. Soteria unleashed a blast of cosmic energy from her hand as Siren faced her, who was unable to react to Soteria's attack fast enough and was subsequently struck by it, sending her flying into the nearby wall and briefly knocking her out. Soteria ran to Rox's side to check if she was alright, and slyly asked if she needed a hand once she was revealed to be okay. Soteria and Rox hugged each other just as Vendetta, Stratus and Vega ran into the room to ask where Siren was. Soteria nonchalantly pointed to Siren amidst the debris in the side of the room as she continued to hug Rox, much to Vendetta's amusement. Soteria watched as Vendetta tried to convince Siren to surrender, though Siren revealed that she was too far gone to be saved after she revealed her suit had a built-in bomb vest that she quickly activated in a final attempt to kill Techno. With thirty seconds on the bomb's timer, Techno quickly fled the room.

Dispatching any remnants of Siren's forces in their path, the team ran down to the floor where the zipline they used to enter the building was at, and using their ascenders, the team slid down the line to the adjacent building they started the infiltration from. The team watched as Siren's bomb went off immediately after, killing Siren and destroying several of Forsaken Headquarters' upper floors in a fiery explosion. Techno's victory over Siren became bittersweet as Vendetta solemnly wished for a different outcome, but nonetheless remained proud of his team for what they had achieved. Vendetta gave Soteria and Rox the highest praise for their efforts, and asked Soteria if the life of a Techno operative was something she wanted to keep. Soteria remarked that it would, so long as she got to spend her time with her girlfriend and the rest of the team. Vendetta proudly announced with honor that Soteria would be given the rank of Rox's second-in-command of the Recon Agents as Soteria and Rox stepped forward to share a kiss. Rox asked Soteria what she wanted to do now that everything was over; in response, Soteria desired to choose a name for herself, and settled on "Paige Bishop" as her new name.[2]

Life in Earth-52319[]

Adjusting to a New Lifestyle[]

In the days following Siren's death, Paige underwent a series of tasks to start her new life. With approval from the Atlas Council, Paige obtained citizenship within Midnight City and legally accepted Paige Bishop as her name, designating November 14th as her official birthday. Paige later met with Captain Gideon, Techno's specialist trainer from the Atlas Security Service, who would provide Paige with additional combat training and assess her skills.[3]

Marriage[]

In July 2144, Paige mustered the courage to propose to Rox, who gleefully accepted. The two held their wedding in the lounge of Techno Tower, which was attended by numerous Techno members and high-ranking officials from Atlas International.[3]

Twilight Collective Uprising[]

Raid on the Crimson Syndicate[]

On March 4th, 2145, Soteria was among several Techno agents who assisted P.A.R.A.D.O.X. and the Atlas Security Service in raiding the headquarters of the Crimson Syndicate after it came to light that the syndicate had a connection with Siren's former bankroller. During the mission, Soteria utilized her sword, which she had named Misery's End, to disable the engine of one of the syndicate's delivery vans at it attempted to escape the base with a shipment of weapons belonging to the Twilight Collective.

Before the team could question the surviving syndicate members for information regarding the Twilight Collective's master plan, members of the Twilight Collective raided the base in an effort to eliminate any loose ends, including the syndicate. While many of the P.A.R.A.D.O.X. and Atlas Security Service agents were rounded up and killed, Soteria and the rest of Techno narrowly escaped the ambush and managed to procure a shipping manifest from the vehicle she disabled before fleeing the scene.[4]

Next Course of Action[]

Shortly after escaping, Soteria and the rest of the Techno Inner Circle were summoned to Atlas Tower by the Atlas Council to provide a report on the mission. The team handed off the shipping manifest they retrieved from the delivery van Soteria intercepted to the council, and through it they discovered that Allison "Nightstalker" Texas and her Rogue Ghosts were to receive the Twilight Collective weapon shipment at their base at Hearst Harbor. In tandem with the intel they obtained from the Crimson Syndicate members they interrogated, the team deduced that the Rogue Ghosts were in league with the Twilight Collective.

With actionable intel to investigate the Rogue Ghosts, Techno prepped for a mission to Hearst Harbor to capture Nightstalker for interrogation to uncover her connection with the Twilight Collective and learn of the group's objective. Soteria and the rest of the team met up with Gideon at the Atlas Tower war room, where he introduced them to Doctor Dave Herd and his daughter Tsuki, an android from the cancelled TSUKI Project. Together, the group formulated a plan to infiltrate the Rogue Ghosts' hideout using Tsuki's unique abilities. Once the mission and Tsuki's deployment were approved by the Atlas Council, Soteria departed with the others to Hearst Harbor alongside Tsuki.

At dusk, Soteria and the rest of the team hid inside a large shipping container that was smuggled into the harbor by Tsuki, who used her adaptive appearance module to disguise herself as a Rogue Ghosts dock worker to get close to the Rogue Ghosts' base. When Tsuki was stopped by a guard just outside of the Rogue Ghosts Hideout to provide credentials and undergo inspection, the team emerged from their hiding spot and ambushed the Rogue Ghosts. Soteria helped fight through the Rogue Ghosts until the team successfully cornered Nightstalker in her office, who cryptically remarked that they should have never come before being incapacitated by Tsuki. With Nightstalker as their prisoner, the team fought their way back outside, where they were extracted by Gideon after fending off the extraction point from additional Rogue Ghosts reinforcements.[4]

The Uprising[]

That night, Soteria partook in Nightstalker's interrogation at Atlas Tower in an attempt to force her to reveal any information regarding the Twilight Collective and their plan. Unfortunately, Nightstalker refused to cooperate with the team, prompting them to discuss the potential of utilizing more coercive means to get the information. As the team discussed this, Nightstalker peered up at a clock on the wall and suddenly began laughing to herself, confusing everyone. Nightstalker explained that if they wanted information on the Twilight Collective so badly, then they should ask them themselves. Just then, the clock in the room stuck midnight followed by several alarms.

Outside, several missiles struck the various Artificial-Space Energy generators around the complex, crippling the base's power grid. Nightstalker then revealed to everyone that the Twilight Collective found a way to bypass all of Atlas' security measures by reverse-engineering the Atlas tech they managed to seize during the raid on the Crimson Syndicate, elaborating that she was fully aware of everything that had happened within the past 24 hours. Nightstalker concluded her spiel by explaining that she intended to be captured to bring together Atlas' best forces, including Techno, and provide the Twilight Collective the perfect opportunity to take them all out in one fell swoop.

The situation continued to worsen for the team as the Twilight Collective's field commander Marshal Wolfe personally led a strike team to breach the tower's main gate and gain access into the building. Throughout the building, Atlas officials declared a mass evacuation with the PA systems, and Gideon ordered Techno to take Nightstalker with them to the hangar bay while he went to secure the council and get them to the extraction point. While Gideon and Tsuki left to find the council and Doctor Herd respectively, Techno divided into three smaller teams to avoid being pinned down together and outmaneuver the Twilight Collective, with Soteria comprising Team One alongside Rox, Vendetta and Amber Summers.

After fighting through several waves of Twilight Collective operatives in their path, the three Techno teams rendezvoused at the hangar bay just as Tsuki, Gideon, Anders, the Atlas Council and several other Atlas soliders arrived, where they learned from Tsuki that Doctor Herd was dead. Everyone took a moment to mourn Herd's death, with Vendetta promising to avenge him. An explosion then rocked the hangar, and Gideon remarked that they needed to leave immediately as Jonathan Irons pointed out a state-of-the-art experimental VTOL parked nearby that they could take. While Irons and the rest of the council boarded first in order to provide credentials and authorize the opening of the hangar's blast doors, Techno and the others struggled to get Nightstalker into the vehicle.

At that moment, Marshal and his forces breached the hangar and began to fire at the VTOL. In the ensuing chaos, Vega was shot in the back by Marshal as she wrestled with Nightstalker, Nightstalker broke free of her captors, and Vendetta was forced to grab ahold of Vega to save her from falling out of the vehicle as it began to takeoff, leaving Nightstalker behind to be liberated by Marshal while the VTOL successfully escaped. Aboard the VTOL, Soteria and Rox worked together to help stabilize Vega's wound while Stratus ordered the VTOL pilot to set a course for Techno Tower. Vendetta profusely blamed himself for allowing things to escalate, thought everyone reassured him that none of this was his fault and that everyone did the best they could given the situation.

Not long after, Marshal started a broadcast across all Atlas systems, which was picked up by the VTOL. Everyone aboard the VTOL watched as Marshal ushered his forces hidden throughout Midnight City to rise up and fight now that Atlas had been weakened by their attack on Atlas Tower. Soon, numerous firefights between Atlas forces and the Twilight Collective sparked throughout the city, signaling the start of the Twilight Collective Uprising as the VTOL closed in on Techno Tower.[4]

Resisting the Twilight Collective[]

Relocation[]

With many other megacorporation territories also falling under siege by the Twilight Collective within a matter of days, several high-ranking members from each megacorporation and a handful of their best soldiers were sent to find refuge on Paradise Island, using its remote location to their advantage to isolate themselves from the collective and form the beginnings of the Megacorporation Global Alliance. Paige was among several Techno operatives who were sent to Paradise Island to assist in the island's defense, where she would be stationed at a makeshift base around the valley surrounding the Central Vault.[5]

A New Hope[]

On May 15th, Soteria was present at New Elpis City Hall to witness a hearing presided by the MGA's leaders over Iana's case regarding the identity of the Twilight Collective's true leader. From Iana, Paige and the others learned that Mrs. T, Iana's mother and the leader of Victorian Arms, was in truth a fabricated identity created by a being known as The Dealer, an embittered Nexu clone of a powerful being who was the true shot caller of the Twilight Collective's operations. It was also revealed that The Dealer's true aim of the uprising was to prepare an army strong enough to combat his original template and his forces, thus proving his superiority over him.

With this information having been brought to light, and Iana's claims against Mrs. T being verified by her sister Alice, several members of the audience began voicing their suggestions for a plan to lure The Dealer and his forces to the island as part of a trap, with Soteria throwing in the suggestion of feigning the presence of The Dealer's template to goad him into coming to the island. Their suggestions however were interrupted by the sudden arrival of Sophia and the Four Apparitions, who pledged their support to the MGA and provided them information about the Central Vault being able to contain The Dealer and nullify his unique powers.[5]

Preparing for Battle[]

Heeding Soteria's initial suggestion, the MGA crafted a plan using Sophia's Nexu signature to lure The Dealer and his forces to the MGA base on top of the Central Vault, where the Nexus Apparitions would manipulate the vault's portal to its pocket dimension to create a singularity that would absorb and seal everything in the area within the vault. To prevent the MGA forces from also being contained within the vault, Stratus and his Tech Agents would design a special teleportation gadget that would be handed out to all MGA soldiers to allow them to teleport away from the base when the Nexus Apparitions finished preparing the singularity.

After Vendetta went over the finalized plan to everyone at the MGA base just past sunset, Soteria joined the Techno Inner Circle Heads at a private campfire dinner, where she helped reassure a worrywart Vendetta about his inner insecurities. Soteria personally complimented Vendetta regarding his fantastic leadership skills, adding that he was instrumental in providing hope and inspiration to everyone for the coming battle. Touched by everyone's individual comments, Vendetta lightened up before proposing a toast for tomorrow's efforts. The five of them all raised their cups and cheered, while Soteria affectionately leaned into Rox's shoulder afterward.[5]

Battle of the Central Vault[]

Early on the morning of May 16th, Soteria learned that Renee "Trinity" Lynch and her security team at the mainland security checkpoint guarding the bridge to Paradise Island was attacked by a massive Twilight Collective fireteam, who narrowly escaped by sabotaging the bridge behind them to delay the collective's advance. For the next several hours, Soteria and everyone at the MGA base took defensive positions, awaiting the impending arrival of the collective forces. Trinity, who managed to stealthily take overwatch outside the base, soon informed everyone that the collective forces were now entering the valley leading to the Central Vault.

Shortly after, the collective forces finally arrived outside of the base's main gate, where they quickly dispatched the defensive autoturrets before breaching into the base. During the ensuing battle between the MGA and the Twilight Collective's armies, Soteria managed to use her holographic shield to save a few MGA soldiers who were all stunned by an explosion. However, Soteria's heroics were quickly countered by the arrival of Iana's brainwashed sister Glimpse, who managed to land a couple blows on Soteria. Before Soteria could challenge Glimpse, Iana and Alice arrived to fight their corrupted sister, ordering Soteria to help Rox and Stratus nearby. Soteria complied, and ran off to another part of the battle to find Stratus moments away from being executed by Nightstalker.

Soteria quickly took action and shoved Nightstalker to the ground, saving Stratus. Rox, who had been briefly dazed by an explosion, quickly rebounded and joined Soteria in battling Nightstalker. Together, the two quickly overwhelmed Nightstalker in combat, beating her down to the ground. Shortly after, Vendetta sent out the signal to inform all MGA forces to evacuate from the area as the Nexus Apparitions triggered the countdown for the singularity's detonation upon learning that The Dealer and all of his invading forces were now in the area. Soteria, Rox and Stratus quickly responded to Vendetta's call and teleported away to a random room at the New Elpis Emergency Shelter, leaving behind a severely battered Nightstalker and the rest of the Twilight Collective to be absorbed into the Central Vault.[5]

A Bittersweet Ending[]

Despite this monumental victory over the Twilight Collective, it quickly became bittersweet when Soteria, Rox and Stratus regrouped with Vendetta, where they quickly realized that Vega was unable to teleport away from the base and was thus ultimately sealed within the Central Vault alongside the collective. Soteria, Rox and Stratus solemnly cradled an emotionally-devastated Vendetta as he sat on the floor while the rest of the MGA could be heard celebrating the victory throughout the other rooms of the bunker.

A few days later, Soteria attended a memorial service at the sealed Central Vault hatch for Vega and various other MGA soldiers who were lost in the battle. Soteria sat next to Rox amongst the crowd of attendees, silently comforting her while solemnly observing Vendetta give a eulogy for Vega. After Vendetta finished the eulogy and bid his final farewells to Vega, Soteria joined him on stage with the other members of Techno to present flowers and honor the memory of their fallen friend and companion.[5]

Personality[]

“I'll do anything to protect the ones I cherish.”
―Paige Bishop[src]

In stark contrast to both Abigail Payne and Ignotus, Abigail-Ignotus is a kind-hearted person who deeply cares for others and their struggles, doing whatever it takes to help them while often volunteering in various activities. However, she unwillingly bears the memories and knowledge of Ignotus' brief but impacting possession of her when she was still in the process of forming, which deeply scarred her. Over the course of her time at Golden Oak University, Abigail-Ignotus did everything to balance out her life as a good person and attempts to not dwell on her bad memories. By the time two months had passed since her arrival at the university, Abigail-Ignotus had become shy and meek, and barely interacted with anyone as much as she used to, though this didn't stop her from being nice to people.

When Abigail-Ignotus found herself in Earth-52319 and met Rox, she immediately took a great interest in her, resonating with her kindness. Over the course of the next couple of days living and bonding with Rox, Abigail-Ignotus came to deeply care for Rox and her safety regarding Siren's mission to kill her and Techno, devoting herself to keeping Rox safe no matter what. Abigail-Ignotus became extremely happy and content during her time with Rox, showing a playful and slightly goofy side to her personality while also developing romantic feelings for Rox, something Rox also reciprocated. However, Abigail-Ignotus soon suffered another mental breakdown when her powers she inherited from Ignotus showed during a mission, causing her to believe that Rox would hate her when she would have to tell the truth regarding her origins.

To her surprise, Abigail-Ignotus found that Rox was extremely empathetic toward her and her situation, confirming that she cared for Abigail-Ignotus' safety and well-being just as she did for Rox's. It was at this moment that Abigail-Ignotus was finally able to realize and accept that she shouldn't take blame for Ignotus' actions after Rox compared the situation to her own trauma with Siren, which she blamed herself for. This realization, in addition to Rox's support, allowed Abigail-Ignotus to indirectly reveal that deep down she wanted someone to love her and reassure her that everything would be okay, something Rox fulfilled and reciprocated back. Free of her doubts, Abigail-Ignotus was finally able to overcome her trauma and start a happy life with Rox as her girlfriend and later wife once Siren was dealt with, legally adopting the name Paige Bishop as the true start of her new beginnings.
