Scavenger Hunt is the term used to describe the latter three maps of Call of Duty: Black Ops. It was created purely by Treyarch. The term 'Scavenger Hunt' is utilised in the Time Travel Will Tell series (and by extension, Dawn of a new Dusk and A Universe Splintered). It is also used in Remember When... and Dark Tears.
In the storylines, the events of Scavenger Hunt play a valuable role.
Maps[]
Ascension[]
The rocket of Ascension.
Ascension is the eighth Zombies map in the series, and is primarily set in a Soviet Cosmodrone in Russia. It features two new wonder weapons, the Gersch Device and the Matryoshaka Dolls. Ascension's major easter egg is known as the Kassimir Mechanism, which focuses on freeing Gersch from his prison.
The reason Ascension is part of "Scavenger Hunt" is because Richtofen used the Kassimir Mechanism to recharge his Wunderwaffe, so he "found" it in a sense.
It's musical easter egg is Abracadavre, by Kevin Sherwood and Elena Siegman, which samples Damned.
Call of the Dead[]
George A. Romero's idea of safety was largely misjudged.
Call of the Dead is the ninth Zombies map in the series. It is set on George A. Romero's movie set in Siberia. It features four new playable characters, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Robert Englund, Danny Trejo and Michael Rooker, all of which have played a part in the horror industry before. Call of the Dead features a new wonder weapon known as the V-R11, which turns Zombies back into humans, who are hunted down by the horde which ultimatley leads to their demise. Call of the Dead's major easter egg is called Original Characters Trapped, which focuses on freeing Richtofen and his group from captivity and send them to "Paradise".
The reason Call of the Dead is part of "Scavenger Hunt" is because Richtofen procures the Golden Rod, which was his reason for coming to Siberia in the first place.
It's musical easter egg is Not Ready to Die, by Avenged Sevenfold, it also samples Damned.
Shangri-La[]
The outbreak has spread.
Shangri-La is the tenth map in the Zombies series, and the finale to Scavenger Hunt. It is set in a Group 935 remake of the famed 'Shangri-La' paradise. After mining there for years, the civilians have fallen victim to the Element 115 and turned. Shangri-La features a new wonder weapon known as the 31-79 Jgb215. It also features a major easter egg which is called Eclipse. Whilst originally thought to focus on helping Gary and Brock, it eventually turns out to be just an excuse to get the Focusing Stone, which is why it is part of Scavenger Hunt.
Shangri-la's musical easter egg is called Pareidolia, by Kevin Sherwood and Elena Siegman. It's intro music Paraphony is based on Pareidolia.
