Shadow Company is a private military company specializing in military-grade security services.

Background[]

Origins[]

Shadow Company was established in Imperial City in early 2131.[1]

Early Activities[]

On June 13th, a Shadow Company unit led by John Price launched a covert operation and infiltrated an Atlas International research facility, stealing millions of dollars worth of research and giving to an unknown employer. On June 23rd, another Shadow Company unit infiltrated the Central Vault on Paradise Island and stole valuable resources from the vault, which they soon reverse-engineered for their own technologies.

In December, Shadow Company accepted its twentieth contract from Imperial International subsidiary Sienar Industries International and planned a covert operation against Markus Defensive and Offensive Systems in former Germany. The operation, led by Marcus "Lerch" Ortega, successfully forced Markus DOS to announce bankruptcy, leading to its acquisition by Imperial International.

In March 2132, Shadow Company seized control over the former headquarters of the United Nations and established it as their own. By August, Shadow Company's leaders declared the company's net worth of $537 million and its neutrality in all operations and independence from its benefactor, whom remained undisclosed, per the founder's contract.[1]

Dealings with Victorian Arms[]

In 2134, Shadow Company entered a fifteen-year contract with Victorian Arms, an arms manufacturer to provide security for its manufacturing and storage facilities around the globe. As a result, Victorian Arms leader Mrs. T became a major figure within the company similar to that of an executive officer, able to command its members, but was not above the authority of its leaders.[1]

Presence at Bunker 99[]

On May 19th, 2138, Shadow Company operatives Phillip Graves, Jacob "Oxide" Holt and Alistair "Excalibur" Coleman, alongside a large group of other contractors under their command, were present at Bunker 99, collaborating with the Private Army. While meeting with Ashley "Iron Lady" Rose, the three Shadows encountered Techno operative Nakata "Demi" Hayashi, who was undercover as Natalie Holmes. Aware of her true identity, Graves attempted to subdue her, though Demi managed to wound Oxide and Excalibur before fleeing.

Demi was eventually cornered by both Private Army and Shadow Company soldiers and severely wounded by a grenade, costing her her arm. A Shadow Company soldier attempted to kill her as she laid on the ground, though he was killed by Techno reinforcements led by her brother Tomiko "Vendetta" Hayashi and Victor "Stratus" Payton. Shadow Company tried to eliminate the Techno operatives, though they soon found themselves under fire from Mirage Corporation reinforcements, prompting them to eventually retreat.[2]

Fallout with Victorian Arms[]

In 2145, following the defeat of the Twilight Collective, Shadow Company publicly denounced and disavowed its involvements with Victorian Arms after it was revealed Mrs. T was in actuality a fabricated identity created by the Twilight Collective's leader The Dealer, offering to compensate for any damage they felt they were indirectly responsible for while associated with Victorian Arms.[3]
