Day of the Departed (movie) Rebirth of Gruntijackal Day of Judgment The Hands of Destiny The Greatest Threat of All Universal Convergence Age of the Soulless Creation by RoachTheIntelCollector canon to the Roach Chronicles

The Soul Jar is an important object that first appears in the epilogue of Day of the Departed before playing a prominent and key role in the Rebirth of Gruntijackal saga. It is an ancient jar that was bestowed to movie director Willard Wyler in order to collect souls for his various horror movies. The jar remained in Wyler's projection room within his theater before it was stolen by Edward Richtofen, who had just escaped from Wyler's Zombies in Spaceland film with the Yin Blade.

Background[]

At some point in time, the Soul Jar was created, acting as a prison to contain souls, which could be used by Willard Wyler to imprison them in his movies.

Rebirth of Gruntijackal[]

The Soul Jar plays an important role in Rictofen's plan to resurrect Gruntijackal.

Day of Judgment[]

The Soul Jar and the MPD are seen floating together in space following the restoration of the universe. Suddenly, the MPD glows a bright blue color as Gruntijackal's hand break through one of the MPD's walls, revealing the restoration of the Aether had fully restored him.

The Hands of Destiny[]

After escaping from the MPD, Gruntijackal releases Xarcoh and Richtofen from the Soul Jar. With his two generals restored, the Soul Jar was left abandoned in space, where it would remain for sometime until it was recovered by the Prophets of the Soulless.

The Greatest Threat of All[]

After the defeat of Ataraxia's Council, the Prophets of the Soulless collected the soul of Xarcoh with the use of the Soul Jar.

Universal Convergence[]

Shortly after Roach's death at the hands of The Visitor in Uriqar, a dark portal opens near Roach's body. Echthroi and a couple of his cloaked soldiers soon emerged from the portal holding the Soul Jar. Kneeling down by Roach's body, Echthroi explains that the time for "his" rebirth is nigh before opening the Soul Jar, revealing Xarcoh's imprisoned soul within it. Echthroi soon uses the Soul Jar to capture Roach's soul from his deceased body. Telling his men that the deed was done, the three dark beings soon returned into the portal as it closed behind them.

Age of the Soulless[]

At the Temple of Resurrection in Limbo, Echthroi releases the souls of Roach and Xarcoh from the Soul Jar, forcing their souls into the Dark Realm, where they would become Erebus. After Erebus arrived and teleported everyone to the Chamber of Darkness on the Dark Island, the Soul Jar and the Book of Rituals were left behind at the Temple of Resurrection.
