Umbra Ops is an elite private military company created by Roach after Division One's restoration from their Soulless counterparts.

Background[]

Creation[]

Sometime after the members of Division One were restored, Roach, using his connections to Division One and the US Military, formed the Umbra Ops private military company, allowing him and his allies to carry out their various missions without direct military authority. As part of their first and only mission in Earth-92116, Umbra Ops would take down the remnants of Unit 14 with the support of Group 492 leader Doctor Jonathan Smith, who would ultimately be killed during the conflict. After their success, Roach utilized his powers through the Harbinger to open a portal to Earth-61017, intending to relocate Umbra Ops' operations there, as it was set further in the past from their current time in 2035.

Earth-61017[]

Following the sudden zombie attack at the Day of the Departed festival and their run-in with Gruntijackal in San Francisco, Roach officially re-established Umbra Ops within Earth-61017, intending to protect the universe from future unnatural threats that would undoubtedly surface. From then on, Umbra Ops would engage in many conflicts in the following years, including the rise and fall of Omnitron and his Robot Army, and the universal conflicts with Ataraxia and The Visitor. During these conflicts, Umbra Ops would find new allies in the form of Alex "Rook" Miller, the heroes of Novus from Earth-31218, and the members of the Eclipse Military from Earth-111517.

After their pyrrhic victory over the Prophets of the Soulless, Umbra Ops was temporarily disbanded, as all of its primary members were eliminated. However, they would eventually be revived by Mackenzie Davis with the use of Prima Materia as part of his plan to restore Earth-61017 after a majority of its human inhabitants were all culled by Master Ronin. The members of Umbra Ops would later be forced to participate in the Boss Rush tournament orchestrated by the Grandmaster, and would later assist The Son in retaking the Nexus from Ignotus.
