- “As we connect to you, so too you shall live and will take us in your stead.”
- ―The Val'kyr pact
Evil, but loyal, the Val'kyr are female Vrykul chosen to ascend into immortality, and granted a blessing which destroys their former body and transforms them into a winged undead being capable of going into the real world and the spirit world at will. They can kill at will and resurrect the dead to serve as a new army capable of toppling any other. These undead are intelligent and can decide whether they want to join this army.
Val'kyr's Pact[]
The Val'kyr, while fearsome and all mighty, cannot exist without enacting what is known as the Val'kyr's Pact. The Val'kyr bind the subjects soul to theirs, and the two are connected for eternity. If the pact initiater dies, one Val'kyr will sacrifice herself to resurrect the person into perfect health. Although one could ponder whether this is a weakness, it actually is not. The Val'kyr will only make this pact with somebody of great power, and as long as the Val'kyr are alive, so too shall the person of great power.
In Zombies[]
The Val'kyr first appear in the Zombies map Nazizombiesplus.die during the major easter egg Deckers.die. Ebon Shadowshot ventured to other universes upon discovering that Gruntijackal, a section of his soul, had shattered the multiverse. Ebon eventually came across the Val'kyr, who had now lost their spirit bond as the person was killed and quickly replaced, soul and all, shortly followed by freezing himself. The Val'kyr were bound to a person who had no use for them. The Val'kyr showed Ebon what death was like and ultimatley stunned him. The Val'kyr offered to do the pact with him, to which he accepted. However as Ebon passed through the multiverse back to his own, he noticed that some Val'kyr stayed behind, unbinded to him.
The Val'kyr initially appear during Deckers.die, in which they can be seen accompanying Ebon throughout the duration. They can kill Wikia Zombies with ease and are not hesitant. A total of four Val'kyr die in the easter egg, all of which inside Magma-Man's mind.
They appear in Installation 00 in which they revive anyone who dies in exchange for themselves.
They appear briefly in Fortune's End, in which one revives HellHoundSlayer as an Undead, and tosses him outside to be consumed by the marauding undead.
They appear again in Künstliche Tod, guarding the previous rooms from Zombie attack and resurrecting the dead again.
The Val'kyr are set to have a much more prominent role in the final map in A Universe Splintered, Elemental Ascendance. As to what they will do is debatable.
